The Role:
Manage a team of 8 Accounts Assistants, a mix of staff and contractors, to ensure that all invoiced changes are complied, processed and paid in line with our clients policies so that only appropriate amounts are paid for.
This currently includes invoices for a recent acquisition during the supply of transition services.

As subject matter expert for VAT, ensure that the correct VAT accounting treatment is applied on all invoices thus ensuring compliance with all VAT regulations and requirements, thereby avoiding HMRC penalties and fines.
Oversee the completion and authorisation of UK VAT Returns and Instrastat reports in line with statutory obligations, monitor EC Sales List and any administrations for the UK VAT group.

Ensure appropriate segregation exists in AP duties such that all relevant controls are Sarbanes Oxley compliant.
Keep up to date with techniques used against fraud, communicating to AP team and F & A leadership as appropriate.

Responsibility for all AP and VAT months account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of reported financial data.

Collaborate with Supply Chain to maximise the efficiency of the Purchase-to-Pay process, including the implementation of more efficient use of SAP.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualified accountant or qualified by experience
Preferred Qualifications = ACCA, CIMA, graduate
Must have good working knowledge of SAP and VAT

Experience of supervising a team; managing Account Payable; working successfully within the larger F & A organisation; managing different workloads including projects within daily business.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Effective team leader & motivator; able to establish good relationships with internal and external customers; patient and able to communicate to a wide and varied audience; Innovator who sees themselves as part of wider F & A function; good changes capability.
