The Company:
Is an international oil and gas Super Major.

The Role:
Our client is looking to recruit a Seismic Acquisition specialist to work as part of a team focussing on the North Sea - both UKCS and Norwegian North Sea. This team will be acquiring a large volume of seismic data over the coming five years and we are looking for someone to support all aspects of the planning and execution of these seismic surveys.
Projects range from towed streamer, OBC and permanent "Life-of field seismic" systems. There is an increasing use of wide azimuth and multi-component data and most of the surveys are acquired to generate time-lapse products for field development though quality surveillance. We are looking for talented technical people who integrate well with the other disciplines and can show creativity for innovative use of the latest technology whilst also having practical skills to manage current projects.

The successful candidate will report to the Seismic Delivery Manager and will work within an integrated team to support the field teams.

You will be expected to take responsibility for all aspects of seismic data acquisition including survey design, scopes of work and technical specifications, tender package preparation, contractor selection and supervision of field operations and you will be committed to the achievement of the highest standards of HSSE performance.

Responsibilities:
• Provision of technical expertise to field teams in seismic acquisition.
• Survey design, seismic contractor selection, project planning and operations project management and supervision, in line with the companies defined practice for geophysical operations.
• Preparation of scopes of work and technical specifications.
• Work with Supply Chain Management Specialists (PSCM) in the tender invitation and bid evaluation process.
• Detailed project planning, risk assessment and resource planning for all operational and HSSE aspects of the work.
• Quality Assurance of contractor led field operations.
• Active participation in the appropriate technical networks.
• Co-ordination with other operations groups within BP North Sea to ensure effective SIMOPS operations.
• Liaison with seismic contractors.
• Leading seismic HSSE and start-up meetings with contractors.
• Contractor Performance Management.
• End-of project lessons learned and documentation.
• Training and mentoring of acquisition team members.


The successful applicant may be expected to spend up to 20% of the time in the field. During operations, there may be a requirement to transfer between locations in a helicopter.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You must have a relevant university degree preferentially in (geo)science, mathematics or physics.
You must have experience in that you have the following:-
• Relevant experience in the oil/gas industry,
• Relevant experience in the management of Geophysical Operations including Towed Streamer and Seabed Seismic,
• Strong written and verbal communication skills,
• Ability to network with other parts of the organisation,
• Ability to work with geophysical data,
• Experience in appraisal and development geophysics

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
It is preferable that you have experience in:-
• Experience of Geophysical Software: Seismic Planning software, ray-trace software, Unix,
• Workstation Interpretation skills,
• Technical excellence,
• Creativity and Innovation,
• Some knowledge of seismic processing and interpretation
