The Company:
Our major Oil & Gas Client is in need of an Activity Planning Process Technical Writer in Houston, Texas.

The Role:
Activity Planning is part of the Production Division within the Upstream Segment. Though located in the Production Division, Activity Planning integrates all activities (Wells, Operations, Projects, etc.) that will impact a site.

The successful implementation of Activity Planning is one of the critical processes and system that needs to be in place to support the delivery of the Functional organization. Activity planning is responsible for the integration of all activities from all Divisions that will impact the site. Performed correctly, Activity Planning becomes a powerful enabler for the Functional organization that allows for safer and more efficient execution of work. The successful implementation of Activity Planning is not only essential but creates tremendous value on production operations and optimizes plant performance.

Activity Planning is the custodian and owner of the Planning and Controls (1.3) of the Operating Management System (OMS). Though Activity Planning defines and describes the broad planning process from the long term plan (LTP) to execution, Activity Planning, as a function, does not execute all aspects of the Activity Planning process. The primary responsibility for detail functional planning resides within the respective Function.

The position presents significant development opportunities. The integration of Functions is critical to the safe and efficient delivery of Client’s production and growth agenda.

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the capability and expertise in the team. The primary roles being to:

 Provide technical writing expertise for the creation of the detailed process map work.
 Review and translate North Sea and other Regional planning and scheduling documentation into a usable form for the Central Activity Planning team.
 Lead and /or support various aspects of the central team delivery agenda in the areas of process, capability and systems deployment
 Support various Functions as they learn to integrate into the Activity Planning process and systems requirements.

Support the Activity Planning in the creation of a detailed process map before year end
• Work with the process Project Manager, Maintenance, and Backbone to reflect the required interfaces
• Work with Backbone to translate the final output into ARIS
• Develop a deeper understanding of how to execute Activity Planning for the Upstream
• Be a planning and scheduling resource to help us deliver the next level of detail and understanding of Activity Planning
• Play a key role in strengthening the capability and expertise in the team
• Become proficient in the use of the process tool ARIS

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Support the creation and representation of Activity Planning on the global process map used by Backbone
• Technical writing experience with process or system implementation
• Helpful but not required -
1. Work Management experience
2. Process Mapping
3. Planning and/or Scheduling experience
4. Aris Tool
