The Company:
Our client is a Multinational Chemical company which will construct, own and operate a world-scale integrated chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. Once completed, the complex will represent the largest petrochemical facility ever built in a single phase. Our client will establish a world-scale manufacturing footprint that delivers a full range of value-added, performance products destined for the emerging markets of Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

The Role:
Apply functional knowledge and experience within the Advanced Process Control and Process Optimization disciplines by developing, maintaining, and improving AC&O applications. Coach operations on the AC&O applications, challenges constraints, and ensure that value is being delivered from the AC&O applications.

1. Perform AC&O related activities including design, development, implementation and maintenance of AC&O applications by utilizing appropriate process control work processes and tools.
2. Identify any issues with IPCS level controls that impair the AC&O applications and work with IPCS Engineer and /or Run Plant Engineer and/or escalate as appropriate to resolve.
3. Conduct AC&O assessments, including cost analyses and value engineering, to identify and address existing and potential issues, propose solutions to complex technical problems, increase revenue, and recommend process improvements.
4. Meet regularly with Run Plant Engineers and Technical Advisors to evaluate performance of AC&O applications, review and challenge constraints, and evaluate control strategies.
5. Ensure necessary reviews are completed for assigned projects and delivered products conform to stakeholder requirements and specifications.
6. Act as a resource for junior engineers through coaching and mentoring, as well as conducting trainings for colleagues with less experience.
7. Plant contact for any problems or issues with AC&O applications. Resolve issues within skill set and/or experience level and escalate if needed. Coordinate efforts to solve problems when escalation is required.
8. Work with Operations to ensure that AC&O applications are being used. Track usage metrics to identify and resolve issues which are causing AC&O applications to be turned off.
9. Provide training and coaching to operators on the functionality of AC&O applications. This includes formal training for operators as well as informal coaching at the control panel.
10. Maintain a list of expected constraints, which may change depending on the operating condition of the plant (feedstock slate, product mix, etc.). Use this list to evaluate performance of the AC&O applications and coach plant personnel on functionality.
11. Comply with EH&S guidelines and overall safety of operating processes.

12. Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor/manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Process Control, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• ISA-CAP-Certified Automation Professional or licensed/registered Professional Engineer (P.E.)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• A working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PID control theory, and multivariate control theory
• Knowledge of AspenTech AC&O applications such as DMCplus, Real Time Optimizer, InfoPlus 21, Aspen Inferrentials, AspenCalc, etc.
• Knowledge of various BPCS/SIS product lines from ABB, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Invensys, Triconex and Emerson is preferred.
