The Company:
Large international Exploration & Production company.

The Role:

A successful candidate will be creative in their approach to analyze seismic and subsurface information, including petrophysical, pore pressure, biostratigraphic and operational data, to identify areas for new deepwater Paleogene prospects &/or plays within the regional team. Ability to accurately compare the relative technical, commercial and strategic merits of competing opportunities will be critical. Technical skill set includes 2D/3D seismic interpretation, depositional modeling, reservoir quality evaluation, structural reconstruction, seal analysis, basin modeling, and knowledge of deep water sands and salt tectonics.

The position will require close interaction and collaboration with the following internal groups: Maturation, Appraisal, Production, Technology, Land/Commercial and Planning. The candidate will also interact with Communities of Practice, Joint Industry Projects and external professional societies; networking is important.


• Map and integrate regional seismic & subsurface correlations to critically evaluate and generate new deepwater prospect and play opportunities; make new opportunity recommendations to management by providing geological/geophysical summaries, risk analysis, economics and commercial considerations.
• Work with and informally lead team to update regional Paleogene Evergreen maps and Play Fairway Analysis; engage others in creative thinking; transfer knowledge to other groups.
• Evaluate technical and commercial data to recommend participation in and place bids in lease sales, lead farm-in submittal evaluations, monitor and analyze industry activity in targeted areas to help set direction of team.
• Organize and participate in peer reviews for resource estimates and prospect ranking.
• Manage multiple projects that have near-term and long-term goals or milestones.
• Work with leadership team to develop business plans and strategic vision.
• Clearly communicate and document project results and recommendations; active participation and leadership in team meetings and knowledge sharing events.
• Mentor and develop less experienced staff.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS Degree: Bachelors required, Masters preferred
Major Discipline: Geology
Computer Proficiencies: Intermediate PC skills are required in Microsoft desktop suites. ArcMap, Geographix, Geolog, Landmark and Risk Analysis are important, Trinity & Lithotect are preferred.
Years Experience Required: Minimum 15 years total industry experience
