The Role:
Provides engineering support for several projects; assignments are of moderate technical complexity and scope and may require oversight from a Lead Engineer. May act in a lead capacity on projects of limited size, complexity and risk. Is accountable for developing technical and professional (customer-facing) capabilities.
The Applications Engineer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Interprets customer technical specifications and assists customer in defining detailed application, system, and hardware requirements
Prepares detailed hardware and software specifications on Schneider Electric products
Develops software and completes all necessary documentation to meet requirements of the application specifications
Prepares packaging specifications
Works with third-party vendors to ensure compatibility with Schneider Electric solution
Assists with basic on-site engineering, including: start-up and application commissioning and hardware assembly
Participates in customer acceptance and application testing under the supervision of a Lead Engineer
Reviews other Application Engineers’ work to ensure quality and accuracy
Interfaces with EEC resources to ensure high-quality and accurate deliverables
Anticipates potential changes in project deliverables and timing and makes the Lead Engineer aware of a potential need to re-contract or secure additional engineering resources
Identifies and alerts Lead Engineer and/or Project Manager to opportunities to increase scope of work
Increases project margins by minimizing re-work and complying with Schneider Electric technical engineering processes and quality standards
Provides Sales with engineering estimates for potential applications opportunities of low complexity, dollar value, or risk

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
Five years of industry experience with a minimum of three years in project engineering.
Effective computer skills: Microsoft Office and other Company and discipline specific software applications. Excel and Access skills required.
Experience in Automation control industry and/or related engineering experience in disciplines such as process, chemical, mechanical, industrial, and/or electrical engineering with end-users and/or EPCs (required)
Experience working as part of a team in a project environment (required)
Work experience in a global company (desired)
Experience with Schneider Electric products (desired)
Exposure to target environment (site) for product (desired)
Exposure to EPC work (desired)
Experience with risk assessment and mitigation action planning (desired)
Experience with third-party solution providers (desired)
Experience interfacing with customers and leading customer interactions (desired)
