We have an immediate requirement for a Senior Architectural Engineering Specialist to join the Civil Engineering Unit of the Consulting Services Department based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The Civil Engineering Unit provides technical consultations and support on issues related to civil, structural and geotechnical engineering for both onshore and offshore facilities to projects and operating plants, and maintaining company engineering standards. The Senior Architect will perform architectural design for various aspects of major capital projects, including petrochemical facilities, industrial clusters, residential communities and iconic structures. Projects may involve designing new buildings, extensions or alterations to existing buildings, or advising on the restoration and conservation of old properties. The candidate will work closely with the Facilities Planning Department (FPD) and proponents to make sure that projected designs match their needs and are functional, safe and economical. The candidate will be involved from the earliest stages of a building project, which can start with developing ideas with the FPD, establishing budgets, assessing the needs of the building and its users, and its impact within the local environment. He/she will assist with site selection, review the Master Plan and ensure that works are carried out in accordance with CSD standards and that, above all, the building is sustainable, functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Reviewing and evaluating the design prepared by other departments and consultants to ensure adequacy, completeness, and economy of design, standards of materials and methods, and compliance with design criteria and standards. Interacting with proponents and relevant departments inside The largest oil company in Saudi Arabia as well as outside groups and consultants. Discussing the objectives, requirements and budget of a project. Liaising and consulting with other professionals about the design of an environment. Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals. Advising proponents on the practicality of their project. Specifying the nature and quality of materials required. Conducting regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is complying with CSD standards and guidelines. Resolving architectural problems and issues that arise during construction. Ensuring that the environmental impact of the project is managed. Assisting with the interpretat

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have the following experience, competencies and skillsets: A bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from an accredited university. Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in planning, designing and managing the design and construction of major multi-use complex projects. A Registered Architect in the U.S. or U.K. and a member of AIA or RIBA. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of design and construction management principles, construction techniques, standards and practices. Knowledge of general zoning regulations and site approval processes. Ability to independently evaluate, select and modify standard architectural techniques, procedures and criteria. Familiarity with CAD applications. Ability to independently prepare architectural procedures and forms. Ability to present complex information to diverse audiences, both verbally and graphically.
