The Role:
The role of the Construction Area Engineer is to manage the EPCm Contractor’s multi-discipline construction activities in the assigned area on the Construction Manager’s behalf.
The Area Engineer is responsible for HSE in the assigned area during construction.
The Area Engineer reports to the Construction Area Coordinator.

DIMENSIONS: The Nyhamna Expansion project is a brownfield expansion project in the live gas processing facility at Nyhamna, Gossen, Norway. The project scope of work is planned and performed by the EPCm Contractor who coordinates and leads multi-discipline construction and associated field engineering at the Nyhamna Site.

The key activities of the Area Engineer are:
1. Manage HSE at site during construction, including review of EPCm contractors supervision.
2. Review Construction scheduling
3. Manage receipt, review and approval for construction of Work Packs, maintain Work Pack approval administration
4. Ensure Pre-Construction readiness checks (engineering, manpower, supervision, materials, equipment, consumables, MC packs, handover requirement definition) are held
5. Ensure Risk Assessment, Safe Job Analysis and Tool Box Talk are conducted properly
6. Review Permit to Work (PtW) request is submitted correct and complete to AT technicians. Coordinate with AT technicians approval of PtW. Maintain Work Pack submission administration.
7. Unsure Lifting Plans are in place where required.
8. Ensure timely notification of discipline engineers to observe Hold and Witness surveillance points
9. Review construction sequence and monitor activities against schedule and report progress against schedule.
10. Follow up closure of Punch List items to full sign off of MC pack
11. Contribute towards maintaining a ‘no change’ and ‘no claim’ culture
12. Maintain open, positive and cooperative working relationships within the area team and with EPCm contractor, also under adverse and stressfull conditions

SPECIAL CHALLENGES: The safe and efficient delivery of construction work in a live gas plant.
BSc degree in relevant technical field and/or 5+ years of experience in applying the discipline skill to Oil & Gas projects. Longer relevant experience may compensate for less formal education.
5-10 years relevant onshore oil & gas brown field construction experience.
Good knowledge to Company related administration, technical, execution systems and requirements is an advantage.
Previously holding leading construction positions. - Good communicator. Ability to manage a construction area independently.
Experience with brownfield construction and familiarity with working under a live plant Permit-to-Work system is an advantage.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: There are four positions available on 2/3 rotational basis and one position on a 37.5hr work week Mon-Fri working schedule. Construction experience, together with a multi discipline background, is preferred for all positions. Additional construction skills/areas of expertise are a bonus. If candidates are from a single discipline background, preferred disciplines are: Civil and, or Mechanical. The positions are located on Nyhamna Aukra, Norway.
Start date varies between 01.10.13 to 01.01.14. Depending on performance, contract can be extend to 2016.
