The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

The Role:
The principal accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Ensure that the established planning and scheduling methodology is followed in developing project plans and schedules
• Facilitate interactive planning sessions
• Integrate data from engineering, fabrication and construction contractors to update the monthly owner’s schedule updates.
• Develop level 3 construction, fabrication, and modularization schedules in P6
• Prepare weekly schedule reports, including variance analysis, schedule forecast updates and schedule contingency management.
• Perform probabilistic analysis on integrated schedules and contractor schedules and perform contingency determination
• Ensure contractor compliance with established scheduling methodology and manage contractor performance.
• Assess and incorporate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and identification of alternate approaches to optimise the plan(s)
• Plan and prioritise own work and that of the Workface Planners so that parallel activities are all completed in a timely manner
• Generate and check Fabrication and Construction schedules and execution strategies to provide optimal solutions and eliminate errors
• Support the overall Lead Construction Planner in project specific activities such as writing procedures, resource planning, establishing policy, budgeting, recruitment etc, to support the drive to continuously improve and optimize the operation of the department
• Proactively identify and highlight any progress issues which threaten successful delivery of the project, so that recovery action may be taken
• CWP and FIWP package preparation considered an asset.
• Experience with Work Face Planning Systems and procedures.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Required to have 8+years planning experience on oil and gas projects
• Strong hands-on skills in P6
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred but other technical diploma/certificate can be considered
