The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
My client is looking to recruit an experienced Sales Manager who will focus purely within the water industry to help defend their number 1 position in the market place for fluid products. Reporting to the UK Sales Manager for the Water Industry, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an annual sales order budget of circa £1.5 - £2 million. As an Area Sales Manager you will have experience of and be required to supply a full range of Field & Flow Instrumentation including:

• Flow Metering Solutions
• Level
• Pressure
• Recording & Control
• Service
• Temperature

Key duties for the position will include:

• Expanding existing business by investigating new and existing market potential, thus developing the area to ensure long term growth of order income and developing profitable sales revenues
• Developing sales and marketing strategies for target sector, target products and target customers
• Proactively developing relationships with clients, ensuring regular face to face contact through meetings, visits to company offices and delivering presentations
• Identifying appropriate products and solutions to fulfill customers’ requirements
• Liaising with the proposals team to ensure quotations & supporting material relative to the activity are produced in a timely & customer focused manner
• Forecasting sales activity for your assigned area, analyse variances to budget and identify actions to remedy any shortfall.
• Identifying, driving & managing new multi-million pound Framework Agreement opportunities, including taking ownership of processes from preparation of bids through to negotiation, award & roll out
• Collaborating with internal colleagues & Divisions to maximise the selling potential in target accounts. Enhance the companies position through the use of agreed strategy where possible

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree/HND/HNC. Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic or Chemical Engineering
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good IT skills, particularly MS Office suite (Excel, Word etc.)
• Driving license
• Sales experience

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Sales experience gained within a technical or instrumentation environment, in the utility/process industries
