The Company:
Our client is a major oil and gas company within Australia and is the largest producer of gas to the domestic market within the country. Active for more than 40 years, they have the largest exploration portfolio by area and are currently listed as one of Australia's Top 30 Companies.

The Role:
The Area Superintendent is the Company's representative “on the ground” responsible for ensuring the construction activities executed by the EPC Contractor are implemented in accordance with the agreed management plans, drawings and specifications.

The Area Superintendent is responsible for the day to day management of site activities in relation to the EPC contractor and subcontractors, and facilitates the interfaces with other Company managed activities including, Site Access, Drilling and Completions, Permitting, Commissioning, Operations, Transmission Pipeline, and also Early works activities.

EHS Accountabilities:
Assist the EPC contractor in implementing Health, Safety and Security Management Plans, Systems and procedures in compliance with Contractual requirements. Key activities include:
- Monitoring health & safety performance objectives, targets and improvement plans
- Assist the EPC Contractor to enhance and steward a strong subcontractor management process
- Participate in EPC Contractors Health Safety and Security Program activities such as management walks, tool box meetings etc
- Participate in major health and safety hazard studies and internal audits

Leadership Accountabilities:
- Manage employees to implement the project and ensure role accountabilities are clearly communicated and understood
- Assist the EPC Contractor, to develop and deliver plans to achieve project objectives
- Ensure compliance with and adherence to company and project standards and processes.
- Improve processes or transform team approaches to optimise team performance and deliverables.

- Compliance: Provide oversight of the EPC Contractors performance including Health and Safety, Environmental compliance , Community Relations, Quality Assurance, Schedule and Costs including remeasurable items
- Interface Management: Provide co-ordination and scheduling support between the Drilling and Completions teams and the EPC Contractor to ensure both parties achieve their schedules without delay.
- Trouble shooting: Assist in trouble shooting the resolution and escalation of construction problems/issues on site
- Reporting: Provide prompt communication to relevant stakeholders of issues, anomalies and additional requirements related to interfaces
- Drilling & Completions: Attend weekly Drilling and Completions meetings and prepare status reports detailing key well handover integration dates and status
- Well pads: Responsible for the handover point between D&C and EPC Contractor in relation to well pads
- Interfaces: Ensure the EPC Contractor has unimpeded access to perform construction activities in accordance with the agreed Project Schedule. This will include the management of site access activities, Environmental clearance and Cultural heritage clearances
- Environmental: Ensure the EPC Contractor effectively manages the subcontractors to perform the Construction work in accordance with the approved plans and specification and in accordance the Environmental conditions agreed in the Environmental Authority
- Community Relations: Ensure the EPC contractor effectively implements the agreed Community relations management plans. Immediately investigate any issues, complaints or grievances from the community and ensure the appropriate measures are taken to rectify the situation
- Industrial Relations: Ensure the EPC contractor and Subcontractors manage Industrial Relations in an appropriate manner and consistent with the ERMP (Employee Relations Management Plan)
- Project Controls: Ensure accurate daily records of the EPC contractor/subcontractor activities are maintained and actioned accordingly
- Logistics: Coordinate and ensure that logistics for construction activities to/from site are consistent with requirements, eg drill rigs mobilising to site etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in well drilling pipeline installation and civil construction
- Engineering degree or trade qualification
- Extensive experience in Construction Management in remote locations
- Well developed understanding of well-drilling and development, pipe laying and civil construction

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate at all levels and provide a calm and measured approach to resolving differences and conflicts
- Strong influencing & negotiation skills
