The Company:
Our client is an international Oil & Gas Operator with a particular focus on the Middle East area.

The Role:



The purpose of the role of Asset and Materials Management Accountant is to design, implement and maintain a fit-for-purpose financial control framework around assets and materials management. These include amongst others fixed assets, movable assets, operational spares and project stock. The incumbent will frequently report out on the design and operational effectiveness of the financial control framework around this area. The incumbent will have to work closely with the business (e.g. Materials Management Manager and Inventory Lead) and building effective relationships with the stakeholders in the business will be important for the incumbent to be successful. The incumbent will be responsible for asset verifications (including movable assets) and stock takes which will take place on a recurring basis.

The Asset and Materials Management Accountant is co-located with the Majnoon team on site and has a solid reporting line to the Senior Production Accountant.


1. Asset & Material Management Control Framework
- Design and implement financial control framework around assets and materials management. This includes fixed assets register, operational spares, movable assets, project stock, wells material, surplus stock and waste material
- Test the operational effectiveness of the asset & material management controls (e.g. conduct verification of fixed assets, movable assets and conduct frequent stock takes)
- Report out on design and operational effectiveness of the asset and materials management financial controls
- Support SOC and auditors during visits to test the design and operational effectiveness of the controls

2. Planning, Appraisal & Reporting
- Develop and implement accurate, timely and qualitative management information to monitor design and operational effectiveness of the controls around assets and materials management (including outcome of assets and movable assets verification)
- Develop a good understanding of the Asset Maintenance Planning in SAP and assist the Senior Production Accountants and business in the budgeting of the maintenance cost of the Asset

- Be part of setting up an in-country Finance Organisation from scratch whereby the control framework will need to be built from scratch (new role).
- Ability to work independently on various tasks within an agreed timeframe.

- Good English and Arabic speaking and writing
- Capabilities to work virtual is a must
- Good IT skills, incl. MS Office
- Previous experience with different type of Accounting and Reporting systems
- Experience with SAP is a plus and definitively preferred
- Focused on delivery, meeting tight deadlines
- Can-do mentality and team player
- Good influencing and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, with eagle eyes for details
- Flexible and keen to pick-up and learn new things and able to develop own view

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting
- Diverse Finance experience in different roles for 5 years
- Knowledge and understanding of financial controls
