The Role:
Job Title: Angola Deputy Drilling Manager
Required Experience: 10+ years plus experienced understanding of Angola.


I. Job Summary
The Deputy Drilling Manager is Responsible for delegated duties for encompassing all drilling and completion planning and operations in alignment with company standards and Angolan regulations. They will be a member of the Angola Leadership Team (ALT), which collectively is responsible for strategy, annual work programs and budgets, performance targets, and business/operational execution. The candidate will be an experienced, proven professional capable of making independent decisions.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
• Assumes responsibility for all delegated Angolan drilling and completion planning and operations and ensures alignment with Company standards and Angolan regulations
• Supports development and execution of long term rig strategy, including rig selection, tendering, and rig contracting in conjunction with other functional leads
• Manages development and execution of all delegated drilling and completions planning and operations, including:
 Design and execution of detailed drilling and completion programs
 Development and fulfilment of drilling and completion operations logistic requirements
 Management of long term well planning, long lead requirements, and personnel resources
 Contractor Performance Management; Third Party Service / Rig Contractor Performance
 Implementation of emergency response training and compliance activities to fulfil HSSE requirements
 Well Delivery Budgeting and Tracking
 Continuous improvement, Goal Setting, Process Improvement
• Capability to stand-in for Drilling Superintendents or Senior Drill Site Managers if required
• Interfaces with logistics base, US office, and relevant functional leads to optimize execution of detailed drilling programs
• Ensures drilling and completion operations comply with all contractual and regulatory requirements, as well as Company and industry standards
• Represents the Companies Angolan project in relevant industry forums as required
• Develops and maintains relationships with key external parties as necessary
• Participates and serves a key role in periodic TCM/FCM and CCM meetings with partners and RTM and OCM meetings with JV partners.
• Demonstrates visible HSSE leadership

III. Qualifications

A. Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
• Experience in international offshore drilling for E&P operations
• Experience serving in a senior management role
• Experience in a developing country environment; understanding of cross-cultural sensitivities and issues that may arise
• Experience and interest in working with a culturally diverse team
• Proven history of achieving results in a challenging environment
• Display a strong understanding of and commitment to HSSE
• Exhibits leadership, management, team/organization building, and problem solving skills
• Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build and manage relationships with key external parties
• Capable to motivate staff to achieve results in a high-performance environment; ability to effectively interact with personnel at all levels
• Confident with the preparation and presentation of technical and non-technical information to management and others
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Proficiency in English language, oral and written
• Proficiency in Portuguese language, oral and written (preferred)

B. Education and Experience
• Required: B.S. Engineering; 10 years E&P industry experience
• Preferred: B.S. and M.S. Engineering; 10 years E&P industry experience

• None

• Rotational position (28/28 day rotation)
• Normal setting for this job is an office setting

• Exposed to a physical environment that involves dirt, odours, noise, weather extremes, and/or similar elements occasionally
• International travel will be required
• Travel to an offshore rig will be required
