The Role:
Role purpose:
Provide expertise and technical support for test automation and control systems. Minimise unplanned downtime and develop system platforms to simplify, standardise and optimise capability, quality and operational effectiveness. Contribute to front-line test technical support.

Role Specific Accountabilities:
* Configuration and application of automation systems
* Develop, implement and validate user interfaces and operating processes
* Work closely with product and performance engineers to specify, configure and implement embedded test automation solutions
* Integrate and automate test facility subsystems
* Support 'Front line' support to all dynos and rigs to minimise unplanned downtime
* Fault diagnosis, containment and resolution of test facility issues relating to automation systems, mechanical subsystems and interfaces
* Support shift and weekend working to achieve programme demands along with additional hours as required

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

* Expert knowledge and application of automation and control systems, preferably AVL Puma Opem and related products
* Experience of automotive / powertrain system and component test facilities, instrumentation and infrastructure
* Ability to apply first-principles knowledge and practical experience to understand and resolve complex electrical/mechanical system faults

* Expert system configuration and/or application of the following:
* Equivalent control and automation platoform used in powertrain product/subsystem/component testing
* dSpace
* Matlab Simulink
* National Instruments
* Knowledge of F1 Power Unit technology and systems
* Knowledge of formal/structured software change processes

* Relevant Engineering Degree (2:1 or above)

Personal Competencies:
* Excellent planning and communication skills
* Ability to work with the team of Engineers and Technicians
* Ability to work under pressure and flexibly support testing requirements
