The Role:
The Automation Engineer will lead the automation engineering activities
-In coordination with the Engineering Manager and Package Managers, clearly establish the automation and instrument work scope, schedule and cost for the project; communicate it to the Project Team and E&P Contractor.
-Determine optimum staffing requirements to meet all the automation and instrument milestone dates and report to the Engineering Manager and Package Managers on any deficiencies.
-Ensure all project information related to design, procurement and construction is accurate and timely, meets the relevant standards and specifications and is made available to the project team in line with the required schedule.
-Review and communicate progress and performance status to the Engineering Manager and Package Managers, flagging any potential slippage and areas of concern.
-Support the plant automation and instrument preliminary and detailed engineering development. Ensure the automation and instrument interfaces with the existing plant are well defined, and that control philosophies align with existing operations.
-Manage and coordinate daily activities with the engineering contractor such as sizing control valves, design and application of measurement devices, interface with existing plant control and automation systems, etc….
-Provide direction to the engineering contractor in development and evaluation of instrumentation and control systems for automated facilities.
-Develops and delivers technical presentations to highlight new technologies.
-Ensure adequate flexibility within design of critical automation and instrument systems.
-Expedite and review Material Requisitions bid evaluations & coordination with vendors for automation and instrument specialty items and bulk materials.
-Participate in Design Reviews.
-Review, comment and approval of all associated lists, i.e. equipment lists, I/O lists, specialty items, automation and instrument tie-ins, etc.
-Ensure automation and instrument datasheets, lists, philosophy documentation, cause & effect charts, etc… are maintained and kept up-to-date by the engineering contractor.
-Review, comment on and approve automation and instrumentation design documentation produced by the engineering contractor, and ensure that plant personnel provide input to the design at an each stage of the project. Review and comment on control strategies, some involving the use of programming language or logic blocks.
-Ensure key stakeholders (Plant operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering) are effectively engaged at all phases of project development specific to automation and instrument engineering deliverables.
-Establish and maintain positive relationships with Partners and RoK design institutes to maximize effective Kazakh Goods & Services levels (KGS).
-Ensure engineering drawings and design packages are issued by the E&P Contractor as per the project plans to support subcontracting and construction needs.
-Ensure that design packages are transmitted by the Engineering Contractor to enable the timely planning, contracting and efficient field execution.
-Ensure release of all required drawings, specs, and procedures necessary for field installation.
-Implement procedures to ensure engineering standards and practices are followed on all project work.
-Provide engineering assistance to the project planners on questions related to automation and instrumentation materials, scope definition, and field coordination.
-Apply appropriate VIPs, gather and apply lessons learned, best practices. Assist in IPA assessments and assist with Project peer review/assists. Ensure designs support Environmental Stewardship intents.

Construction Phase
Provide engineering review of all extra work requests relating to automation and instrument and inform Engineering Manager and Package Managers on areas of growth.
-Ensure engineering support for Field Construction Personnel.
-Reviews all required automation and instrument and Package Equipment engineering changes during the project construction phase, and provide recommendation to Engineering Manager and Package Managers on acceptance.
-Ensure optimized use of owner and contractor’s resources during field execution phase.
-Interface with Lead Operations Representative and Construction Manager to ensure quality of work for operability, maintainability, and technical intent on Project.
-Produce punch list of items to be corrected on capital work prior to transfer of facilities for commissioning. Lead troubleshooting and solving of regulatory and intermediate process control issues.

Post Construction Phase
-Ensure proper project closeout as per company guidelines.
-Ensure that “as-built drawings” are completed as required.
-Ensure timely completion of all post construction project activities.
-Conduct formal project look-back and share lessons learned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
10+ years Oil & Gas experience
Degree Qaulified
