The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Automation Simulation Engineer Reporting to the Stamping Engineering Facilities Manager, the Automation Simulation Engineer will take the lead role in supporting New Model programmes and so will also have a matrix report into the respective Stamping Engineering Programme Manager. They will have responsibility for ensuring that all automation solutions are clearly defined and fully optimized for the full range of new press tool processes being delivered for the respective new model programme. The automation assessment will commence at concept process definition by use of specialized simulation and virtual tools. The automation solution assessments / developments will continue through PSW sign-off and on until full maturation / optimization is achieved, with a performance target and expectation of Harbour league top quartile positioning. The Automation Engineer will also have responsibility for managing structured assessments of all current running processes at one of the three UK press plants to realize efficiency and operational saving through the optimization of the current running jobs. This role requires close working and enrolment of New Model Programme Managers, Feasibility Engineers, Process Planners, Automation equipment suppliers, Production and maintenance representatives.

Skills Required:
A working knowledge of press line simulation tools, Team centre and Catia V5 Must have experience and understanding of press shop processes and related equipment. Must have an understanding of the range and types of available part handling grippers/systems and the latest technology developments. Must have a keen focus on detail, to realize the optimum performance of all future and existing press tool processes. Good communication skills, both verbally and written. Ability to work in a fast moving / changing environment. Flexible in working locations, (all client sites) and in time.

Education Required:
A relevant engineering degree and / or relevant experience is essential, as would time served in manufacturing engineering, stamping production environment and / or related role.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Proven experience and delivery of process improvements within current or new press tool processes, facilities and related activities.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
An understanding of press tooling processes and the aspects of cushion control for part formability. An understanding of Automation cells, PLCs, safety systems and current technology. An understanding of processes and techniques associated with the production of aluminium parts.
