The Company:
We are working on behalf of our client who are global specialists within various sectors. We are looking for BID Managers for their Power Generation and Nuclear Industry.

The Role:
The Bid Manager will be responsible for leading, managing and developing technically and commercially compliant bids

The appointed person will be an enthusiastic and committed individual with excellent communication, planning and organizational skills, able to provide leadership and direction to individual Bid Teams with immediate advice and guidance.

Duties to include:
• The management, preparation and submission of total responses to individual enquiries and the preparation of fully costed proposals
• To ensure all bids are delivered to programme, budget and are of high level of quality
• To ensure technically, commercially and financially, that all tenders are robust and offer value to our customers whilst generating a satisfactory return to the company
• To develop and maintain strong working relationships with the client
• To represent the company at key stakeholder meetings
• Able to undertake high level commercial reviews
• Assisting the Business Development Managers in compiling winning bid strategies
• Ensuring that costs put forward by operational departments are sound and reasonable and approved for use

Required experience:
• A demonstrable track record in the delivery of successful tenders, preferably within the nuclear / defence sectors
• Development of financial estimates for all contracting types
• Management of subcontractors and key equipment providers
• Demonstrable experience of bidding complex projects
• Strong communication and people / team management skills
• MS Project or P3 / P6 Planning with the ability to interpret programmes
• Working knowledge of the NEC3 suite of contract conditions
• Ability to deal with ambiguity
• Experience in managing a fluctuating but often heavy workload
• Ability to work under tight time constraints with excellent time management and planning skills

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate energy, purpose and commitment to maintaining the effectiveness of the tendering operation. They will be comfortable and capable of working under pressure and to immoveable deadlines. Influencing and gaining agreement of stakeholders will be crucial to their success. An analytical, commercial and thorough approach to work is essential.

Continued Professional Development / Training:
CPD is encouraged by the company. Professional training courses are regularly attended to keep up to date with legislation. Accreditation to professional bodies is supported and encouraged. The principle adopted is that professional development is intended to improve the effectiveness of the individual’s ability to do their job.

Required Qualifications:
• HNC / HND qualified in an Engineering or Commercial discipline. Alternatively, candidates with significant appropriate experience may be considered
• PC literate in the Microsoft Office suite
• UK Driving licence
• Flexibility to travel to other UK offices and sites on occasion is necessary.
