The Company:
Our client is an Operator.
We are looking for a Biodiversity Project Engineer in order to develop, implement and co-ordinate the Biodiversity and Ecosystems studies, projects and operations within the COMPANY.
He/She will have to support COMPANY Management in understanding biodiversity and ecosystem services issues and their implications for business decision making.
CONTRACTOR must work closely with the COMPANY's operations and support groups to ensure that a comprehensive advisory service

The Role:
- To coordinate all contractors undertaking Biodiversity studies and projects ensuring that they execute their roles efficiently and to the highest possible standards in terms of both process and outputs; and that there is effective coordination with the Uganda Wildlife Authority and Tanzania Wildlife Authority.
- To ensure there is effective coordination and alignment between biodiversity projects/studies and other studies being undertaken within Uganda and Tanzania by private developers, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Tanzania Wildlife Authority and other Government/Non-Governmental Organizations.
- On behalf of the EACOP, to coordinate the Biodiversity and Livelihoods Advisory Committee to ensure their work fulfils the key role of advising the EACOP in implementing its activities in-line with international best practices and standards, specifically International Finance Corporation (IFC) standards.
- To take lead in identifying, designing and implementing biodiversity and ecosystems studies/projects, in-line with project standards and potential project impacts. Key to this is ensuring that Critical Habitat Assessment, No Net Loss/Net Gain calculations and the Restoration Plant Sourcing project are appropriately done.
- To ensure consistency of quality and content to present a unified approach across the project
- To review all sub-contractor biodiversity survey reports to ensure quality and scientific validity
- To take lead in development and revision of key guiding documents such as the Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, No Net Loss/Net Gain Strategy, Biodiversity Monitoring plan, and Invasive species management plan and Reinstatement Plan.
- To ensure sufficient biomaterials and appropriate methods are developed in time for pipeline reinstatement

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Recommended CONTRACTOR's PERSONNEL background: bachelor of Science, in Environmental Science with a bias in Ecology, Zoology or Conservation Biology. A post graduate training in Project Planning and Management
is an added advantage.
At least 10 year's professional experience in Applied Ecology, in an operational setting (preferably oil and gas or other similar industry). Experience in project planning and management.
