BIW Manufacturing Engineering - 30976
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.
We require an experience manufacturing engineer with experience in BIW ideally with experience or exposure to laser welding of sheet metals. The successful candidate will be required to act as project manager alongside a product development engineering lead to deliver the application of laser welding onto Aluminium sheet metal thereby making the technology application ready. The work will be conducted by a contracted line builder, most likely located in Germany so the candidate is to expect significant amounts of travel, some of it extending over week long duration for the duration of the implementation ready phase of the project - likely to extend over some 6 to 9 months. Technical competence in laser welding itself will be provided by another contracted vendor. The follow on project of delivering the technology onto the roof system is likely to extend over 2 years. The candidate will be responsible to maintaining cost, quality and timing of the project and will take a leading and influential role in the design of the process, facility and equipment selections on behalf of this client.

The role will require significant amounts of travel abroad. Applicants that cannot meet this requirement need not apply.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
We require an experienced manufacturing engineer with a proven, successful track record in BIW process or facilities engineering and project/contractor management.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
A background in joining is desirable but not essential especially in laser welding. Knowledge of process engineering tool sets such as process designer and digibuck will be an advantage but not essential.
