The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Main Purpose of the Role

- Nominate and/or manage external suppliers for Exterior (Body, Body Hardware, Closures) and Interior (Trim, Restraints, Seats) Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) investigations.
- Ensure structural targets are achieved and structural development carried out in a CAE led environment.
- Provide theoretical and practical capability to structural issues.
- Be aware of the latest developments in relevant CAE applications and how to apply them to Exterior and Interior CAE projects.
- Support and provide their functional manager with all the necessary information for decision-making.
- Be aware of all applicable technologies and latest developments in their field.
- Support the body and hardware objectives as detailed by the head of department and functional manager.

Scope of the Role

- Responsible for developing and maintaining technical knowledge/capability within the Body & Trim CAE function with respect to CAE methodology.
- Responsible for defining and planning own work for approval by Manager – Body & Trim.
- Responsible for analysis of components/systems which, when introduced into production, meet all relevant structural, legal and functional targets and represents the best compromise between company and customer needs.
- Accountable for planning and expediting all analysis and test correlation of relevant systems/components.
- Point of contact for analysis investigations to other areas of the business, particularly Whole Vehicle, Validation testing and Vehicle Safety teams.

Experience & Qualifications

- Is able to demonstrate a range and depth of experience as a CAE Engineer using industry standard analysis tools (ideally PAMCRASH, LSDYNA, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, HYPERWORKS suite and GNS pre/post processors) or as a CAE Senior Engineer, including CAE integration activities, workload planning and complex problem solving. Preferable experience is working on automotive products but not essential
- Management, engagement and nomination of external CAE partners.
- Personal charisma and leadership skills required as well as a pro-active attitude to problem solving.
- Desire to work in Body & Trim CAE and progress technical and management skills with high levels of drive and motivation are essential.
- Engineering Degree with a preference for Chartered Engineer and consequently appropriate membership of a professional body.
