The Company:
Our Client is an International Oil and Gas Operator involved in 2 of Australia's largest LNG Projects based in Western Australia.

The Role:
The position of Business Analyst will work on the Corporate team within this large Oil & Gas Operator. The role will look after a Subsurface Data Management project. The company are currently implementing improvements to the way the Business Unit uses and manages the ever growing amount of spatial information it acquires. A GIS strategy has been developed and this will be implemented through a program of work incorporating Foundational, Transformational and Visionary projects. The Business Analyst will assist with the work carried out as part of this program.

Responsibilities will include:

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholder in gathering and modeling business data, business processes and other business rules in order to ensure alternatives have been carefully considered and that the chosen solution meets business objectives
• Apply Information Protection, Information Management and any global standards in the development of system requirements, business processes and procedures
• Ensure application functional and user interface requirements have been defined and reviewed
• Apply the appropriate business analysis tools and methods as needed, in support of new and existing applications, or in support of the study of proposed changes to the business processes
• Facilitate workshops in capturing business requirements, exposing misalignment on requirements and driving to a consensus view
• Develop all Business Analyst deliverables to agreed methods and standards as set out by the IS PPMO
• Ensure all Business Process documentation produced can be used to update the “As Is” Enterprise Architecture (Business Architecture layer) models once the systems are handed over to production support
• Manage business expectations on the actual scope of business and system functions that will be implemented so that there are “no surprises” post plan and design activities
• In collaboration with the Business Process Management team, SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) and super users, develop user procedures and work instructions, not only describing how to use systems, but how individuals should successfully carryout their day-to-day duties in an efficient, safe and effective manner
• As agreed in transition handover plan, provide post go-live support to end users to: refine user procedures and business processes, and facilitate the introduction of new work disciplines Teamwork
• Develop effective working relationships with project team members and business stakeholders
• Provide coaching and mentoring to junior Business Analysts in the team
• Resolve issues on professional terms and escalate as required to ensure successful project delivery
• Foster a “can do” attitude across project team members and business stakeholders
• Demonstrate a willingness to take on new challenges
• Collaborate with the RMIA Project Manager in developing and enhancing business analysis work methods and standards

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification in Geoscience, GIS and/or IT/IM
• Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Must have proven experience working on projects as a Business Analyst.
• An understanding of subsurface data management, and the exploration and appraisal process, and/or GIS systems is desirable.
