The Company:
Our client is an emerging North Sea operator with over 15 producing assets and impressive plans for further growth via acquisition and field redevelopment. To assist in this increase in production we are looking to recruit a contracts professional with previous North Sea drilling and wells experience into a critical supply chain role.

The Role:
◦To facilitate the development, delivery and ongoing management of a non-technical portfolio of business change work.
◦To help define, maintain and improve the standards, practices, business processes and toolkits for effective portfolio management and project support.

Key Responsibilities

BCP Facilitator’s overall accountability:

◦Support the set-up, delivery and monitoring of business change programmes and projects in accordance with a standardised portfolio management system, which he/she maintains.
◦Help define, monitor and report on the delivery of the benefits associated with business change projects in the portfolio.
◦Ensure that the overall business change portfolio management ‘support system’ (all resources, frameworks and information systems) is fit for purpose; uptake and adoption by the various organisational stakeholders and users is verifiably high.

BCP Facilitator’s specific responsibilities:

Portfolio Direction & Planning

◦Be a lead resource for helping the business define and verify initial business change requirements.
◦Develop, maintain and provide expert assistance to the ‘portfolio definition’ / initiative registration and commissioning process whereby programmes and projects are added/deleted from the portfolio.
◦Conduct detailed analysis of the portfolio at its various stages, in order to provide proactive decision support to the Portfolio Manager and the various governance groups. Includes reviews of evaluation reports and benefits to ensure the strategic goals have been enabled / met.
◦Develop and maintain key registers: Portfolio Risk Register, Portfolio Dependencies Register.
◦Assess benefits planning and realisation across a number of key programmes or projects to identify gaps, overlaps and conflicts, and eliminate double-counting in the various Benefits Realisation Plans.
◦Review post-stage Gated Review improvement plans to ensure key strategic portfolio actions are completed.


Portfolio Delivery & Support

◦Support certain project's management team through the delivery phases, providing appropriate guidance and advice according to predefined levels of support and service.
◦Engage and direct contract PM’s, or coach and train internal project managers or teams in portfolio standards, tools and systems.
◦Maintain stakeholder strategies and ensure communications are timely and effective.
◦Help develop and maintain an appropriate Resource Capacity Plan, mapping key available resources.
◦Run post-programme and post-project reviews / learning sessions to capture lessons, evaluate impact and benefit realisation.
◦Provide key progress and performance information to the business change portfolio
◦Help the BCP Manager to develop and maintain the portfolio plan.
◦Liaise with the Finance team regarding monitoring of financial spend and timing.


Standards & Practices / Centre of Excellence / Capability Development

◦Maintain the overall portfolio management systems and toolkits, ensuring that they remain fit-for-purpose, using appropriate metrics to demonstrate and report on the status of effectiveness and adoption.
◦Evaluate and help to implement process improvements to improve project workflow and more effective delivery.
◦Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the portfolio.
◦Develop and maintain the Management Dashboard for business change portfolio reporting.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
◦Recognised Portfolio/Programme/Project Management qualifications
◦Degree-qualified (preferably in one or more areas of science or business)
◦Change management or Business Improvement experience.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
◦Oil & Gas / Energy industry experience in operations and/or support functions.
◦PMO or Project Management support / training highly desirable
◦Facilitation / problem definition experience with small groups highly desirable
◦Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
◦Strong understanding of strategic and portfolio management practices
◦Good organisational and information management skills
◦Effective facilitation, stakeholder management and general communication skills
◦Good coaching, mentoring and training skills
◦Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships across departments
