The Company:
Our Client has operations in the world’s most important oil and gas regions and are leaders in working in extremely difficult environments. They have interests in many offshore producing fields in the UK, including five operated fields and five partner-operated fields. The company also has interests in Denmark, the Faroe Islands, the Netherlands and Norway. The client is the largest private producer of oil in Kazakhstan and the top O&G producer in Thailand.

The Role:
The Business Systems Support Group provide support and management for critical Oracle databases and applications within the Upstream UK Business Unit, regional services, and also for the OSIsoft PI system. The majority of systems supported are used for hydrocarbon accounting, production management and reporting, and field data capture and storage.

Join a team to provide front-line support for the group’s applications and services. As the position is to backfill for team members who will be dedicated to a project, the role will initially be support, but with discrete pieces of work to improve the candidate’s knowledge. As the candidates’ experiences of our systems’ environments grow, the range and scope of these tasks will increase to include substantial pieces of work and projects.

The main functional areas for the applications and systems supported are hydrocarbon production management, hydrocarbon accounting, and real time field data collection. Any experience of these will be considered an advantage.

Out-of-hours support may be required for an on-call rota, approximately one week in five.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
At least two years business experience since graduating from a relevant degree course.

Knowledge of SQL.
Experience of programming – HTML, PL/SQL, VBA a benefit
Experience of scripting – shell or application based.

Advantageous to have :
- experience of RDBMS’s – Oracle an advantage
- experience of OSIsoft’s PI system
- exposure to administration of Unix/Linux and/or Windows servers
- Excel skills
- awareness of systems security
