The Company:
Our Client is a major contractor providing consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world's energy, power and process industries. They are the leading Contracting Company to the Oil and Gas Industry in the UK.

The Role:
Working within the Supply Chain Team to source and secure supply of materials and engineered packages ensuring best value is achieved for Company and Clients whilst complying with relevant Company policies.

Key Aim and Objectives:
Deliver the best combination of product quality, price and delivery to our customers by working to add value in a socially responsible and ethical manner.

Prime Responsibilities and duties:
Compiling and issuing enquiries to the market place Negotiating on price and achieving demonstrable price reductions in the procurement of goods and services Agreement / resolution on commercial terms and conditions.
Initiating CBE and participating in Technical Bid Evaluations.
Liaising effectively and fostering relationships with suppliers and clients.
Attending and participating in progress meetings Maintenance of system and off line P.O. records Engaging suppliers on performance issues and providing feedback through FPAL
Maintaining purchase order records.
Closing out purchase orders, files and archiving documents.
Liaising with other disciplines, in particular Engineering.
Promoting good business ethics.
Promote SHEQ compliance to vendors and internally.

Allied occasional duties:
Assisting Junior Supply Chain Personnel.
Providing support and technical assistance to other members of the team in the use of the procurement system.
Support Accounts/Commercial personnel in verifying and/or resolving queries on supplier invoices.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
HNC or Equivalent.
Proven track record of Buying on oil and gas projects.
Placement of orders for engineering packages and materials.
Highly motivated.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Able to communicate with personnel at all levels.
Team worker who can work under pressure and on own initiative.
Can work to deadlines to meet business objectives.
Experience of typical procurement systems such as PAMMS, SAP, Convero etc.
Able to participate in commercial and technical bid analysis.
Competent in price negotiation.
Possesses understanding of purchasing procedures and commercial terms and conditions.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Associate member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
