The Company:
Our client is a leading Middle East based chemical manufacturing company with estimated current production of 10 million tonnes per annum and a global network of offices and distribution centres. To assist with the further growth of the company we are now looking to appoint a Buyer to be based in Qatar.

The Role:
The successful candidate will be tasked with the following key activity and responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for coordinating procurement activities to include procurement planning and related Vendors issues
• Maintain a strong and long-term relationship with supply chain partners
• Assist in evaluating vendors performance
• Contribute in the formulation of strategy, annual business plans and procurement budgets
• Oversee departmental procurement plans
• Identify where possible cost savings opportunities
• Manage the preparation of annual budgets for purchased items classified according to different procurement categories
• Develop and maintain an effective vendor base and undertake regular vendor evaluation
• Obtain competitive price quotes, assist with the preparation and implementation of formal bids and negotiate procurement details with vendors.
• Supervise the purchase of supplies for the company on a timely basis, and ensure that the purchased items are of the highest quality and bought under competitive conditions.
• Participate in the vendors’ short listing and selection process based on approved policies and selection criteria
• Review all reports (Technical and / or statistical) related to the procurement activities and forward to the Manager Procurement as requested.
• Prepare reports related to procurement

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
We are therefore keen to receive application from candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Degree educated in a business or supply chain related discipline
• A minimum 8 years procurement experience in buying
• Previous employment within a petrochemical or manufacturing environment highly advantageous
• Excellent communication skills to include written and spoken English
