The Company:
Our client is a leading engineering contractor and project integrator for the nuclear industry. They have been at the heart of the UK nuclear industry for more than 50 years. During that time they have designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned a wide range of nuclear equipment and plant for both the power generation and defence markets.

The Role:
KEY COMPETENCIES Sound knowledge and understanding of the Client purchasing procedures Effective negotiation skills E-commerce awareness Computer Literate Understanding of contractual obligations Awareness and interpretation of the needs of the requisitioner in order to suggest alternatives if necessary Good knowledge of the English language with an ability to communicate at all levels in the business community
KEY DUTIES Manage and maintain the Company’s Approved Suppliers list Monitor purchasing activities of Company Personnel Maintain and monitor the external Plant Hire system Ensure all orders placed meet the contractual and commercial requirements of the contract from the information provided on the completed and authorised purchase order request Implement all authorisation levels Ensure all orders are completed to facilitate the automatic payment of suppliers invoices Ensure all items purchased are to the quality and quantity requested Maintain such records that easily identify cost/decision/delivery which meet audit requirements
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Ensure all orders raised meet the obligations of the Purchasing Manual Ensure all target dates for goods and services are met to customer satisfaction Provide efficient and cost effective purchasing support Audit good practice at all times by all personnel Ensure best price policy is achieved Achieve all objectives set

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
ONC (or equivalent), Business Studies, Economics, Office Administration. HNC Business Studies or HNC Mechanical Engineering and/or Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Experienced in Purchasing in Petro–chemical and Power Generation Industry Sectors Practical experience in ORACLE preferable or another ERP system Knowledge of hiring Plant and equipment Overseas Purchasing Knowledge
