The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
As a Buyer your main duties will involve:

The Buyer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment with a goal in delivering value to the associate business lines. The function includes the development of Spot purchase orders within SAP for the acquisition of third party goods and services required by Business Clients on a timely basis and with competitive pricing and terms.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Perform advanced commercial activities, achieve lowest possible cost for material, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs for spot buying

· Solicit and evaluate proposals employing appropriate negotiation, cost and price analysis techniques, using available expertise from supporting organizations; implement purchase contracts following applicable company and government regulations

· Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain bids, and plan programs to meet business needs

· Interaction with internal business clients (requisitioners) to clarify requirements by phone or e-mail, agree on Purchase Order details (e.g. place of delivery of goods and services), and address queries and issues Perform continual market analysis and monitor supplier progress

· Coordinate training of suppliers to accomplish business initiatives

· Coordination procurement of assigned commodities to meet the requirements of IOL

· Coordinate, help direct, as well as perform, all required functions from initiation of an intent to purchase through to satisfactory delivery of material or services

· Assure that material/services will be delivered on schedule, at negotiated price and meet required quality standards

· Initiate necessary action to assure best value is received, customer delivery requirements are met, and address any manufacturing problems at supplier’s facility

· Share knowledge and information within work groups

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Buyer you will have experience:
Knowledgeable in Supply Chain Management is preferred.
Experience in a Sourcing position, including negotiation involvement
Procurement Controls awareness and execution
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven analytical and problem solving skills, with sound judgment and a diplomatic attitude
Flexibility, leadership, ownership of tasks, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, networking skills, collaborative skills Working knowledge of Commodities/Market price fluctuations related to the surface platform
Experience dealing with Supplier Quality issues
Skilled negotiator with good understanding of contract terminology / law
