The Role:
Cable Tendering Manager -To provide a professional and efficient estimating service for all projects tendered for the clients Grid Systems Cables, ensuring that contracts can be won to meet the overall business and financial objectives of the Company.

Key Tasks: The following reflect the main tasks asociated with the position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive.

• Implement the strategy and systems of the Company, ensuring tenders are undertaken and prepared to the high standards that the Company reputation demands.
• Lead the production and take responsibility for all aspects of the tender compilation.
• Provide a professional approach to all stages of the tender process, including estimating, tender submission and bid negotiation.
• Ensure that the bid is evaluated from ‘first principles’ and presented clearly to Management in terms of method, engineering, ‘build-ability’ and risk / opportunity.
• Ensure that the tender accurately reflects the true cost of labour, plant, materials and sub-contracts, for both direct and in-direct costs.
• Work and liaise closely with other members of the team, including Tender Responsible, Estimators, Operations staff, Planners and HSEQ department in the preparation of tenders, ensuring that the Company’s pricing policies are utilised to maintain and optimise profitability.
• Ensure that the tender submission is prepared to the exact requirements of the client and submitted within the deadlines specified.
• Present each tender at the various Tender and Risk Review stages to Senior Management in the required format and to sufficient detail to demonstrate confidence in the bid and gain approval to submit the bid.
• Attend site visits and tender meetings to represent the Company and liaise with clients throughout the process.
• Review all tender submissions including unsuccessful bids, ensuring that any problems are identified and solutions proposed and implemented – lessons learned.
• Where applicable, work alongside Joint Venture partners ensuring a professional estimating service is provided which meets the Company’s requirements.
• Any other responsibilities as required by the job function, ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of the business.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Previous experience of estimating for large (£1m - £250m) civil engineering contracts.
• Engineering or quantity surveying experience gained within professional civil engineering.
• Strong numeric ability and knowledge of standard Conditions of Contract and Methods of Measurement.
• Knowledge of and interest in the tender process for Grid Systems contracts and knowledge of standard conditions of contract.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong IT skills covering Microsoft Word and Excel, and use of Estimating Software is desired. Microsoft Project etc is preferrable.
• Meet deadlines, delegate effectively within the team and work to strict timescales
