The Company:
Our client is a global leader in the design and delivery of infrastructure, power and major engineering projects around the world. Their clients come to them for a wide range of advice, resources and skills - in engineering, maintaining infrastructure, managing construction, planning and strategic thinking.

The Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced CAD Technician based at our clients offices in Newcastle . The ideal candidate will be attached to the Highways and Transportation Business Unit within our clients business structure.

The position will comprise the following duties:

• Supporting in the delivery of core Highway Engineering outputs. This will include:
• The production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD. Drawings will be produced to various scales and levels of detail, dependant on purpose - internal review, planning approvals, construction issue, approvals, consultations, adoption procedures, etc.
• Production (under guidance by and direction of a more senior staff member) of drainage and highway alignment designs
• Production (under guidance by and direction of a more senior staff member) of traffic signs and road marking layouts
• Production (under guidance by and direction of a more senior staff member) of utility drawings, comprising production of record information and preparation of new utility layouts and details.
• Production of setting out information, calculations, quantities, specifications.
• Supporting in the preparation of reports and project-related documentation
• Liaising with team members and external parties in connection with work development and delivery.
Standard 37.5 hour working week.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BTEC Certificate (Higher National Certificate preferred) in Civil Engineering with 5 years (minimum) and up-to-date experience.
• A general understanding of highway and traffic engineering.
• Knowledge of current CAD software.
• Up-to-date experience in a range of highway projects including highway drainage and traffic engineering.
• Up-to-date working knowledge of relevant technical and CAD standards.
• Have an appropriate level of communications skills (oral and written) to be able to liaise effectively with team members and external parties.
• Will need to demonstrate a proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and industry standard CAD software (AutoCAD).
