The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Powertrain 1D cooling and/or lube CAE Engineer.

Use 1D CAE to design and optimise engine and vehicle cooling/lube systems (including charge cooling and thermal management/warm up) to meet vehicle requirements and functional performance targets. Support the cooling system delivery team with detailed system simulations & design solutions.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience in the application of CAE methods for cooling system design, development & optimisation
• Good understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer principles
• Familiarity with CAD visualisation systems (e.g. Visual Mock-up)
• Knowledge of physical vehicle test cycles for cooling system sign-off
• Proven relevant experimental capability (powertrain and/or vehicle test)
• Experience of vehicle or base engine performance simulation an advantage
• Experience with GT-Cool/GT-Power simulation software or similar (e.g. Kuli, Flowmaster, AMESim, Simulink)
• Experience of working in a multi disciplinary organisation with interaction across many departments
• Educated to degree level in Automotive, Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience in core engine cooling/charge cooling/lubrication & flow optimisation
• Experience in a related discipline such as cooling airflow or HVAC Experience of cooling system and/or engine heat rejection physical testing
• Experience of model correlation to physical test data
• Educated to higher degree level in an Engineering or a related discipline
• A full UK driving licence is preferred as some flexibility working at both Whitley and Gaydon sites may be required
