The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Battery Systems Engineer to carry out Thermal CAE analysis of battery systems to support the development of vehicle electrification programmes.

Skills & Experience Required:
Successful history in industrial, major OEM, supplier, or academic work in developing a model in Simulink (or similar system tool) for battery modelling or developing automotive controls and models for testing the controls. Excellent understanding of Matlab's Simulink (or similar system tool) with the express intention of developing the battery system models. Ability to take on direct responsibility for the design and delivery of the battery thermal models for the specific vehicles. Must be able to provide clear direction in order to successfully agree any necessary design changes. Ability to be able to assess the current model in Simulink and develop it to improve its simulation accuracy for further vehicle programmes. The ability to present at a high level along with a good team-working approach to tasks as the role requires close partnership with our client's suppliers and associated technical teams. Awareness of the Python programming language. Educated to degree level in Engineering .

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Previous experience is key to this position. Ability to use the preferred Thermal CFD/CAE tools (EXA PowerFlow and PowerTherm) or have experience of similar tools. Desire to learn about new components/systems or improve knowledge of subject areas as necessary to support on-going systems design and development work. Experience of component heat protection modelling and analysis. An understanding of vehicle performance in relation to power and torque. Ideally post graduate studies particularly in the area of control systems modelling would be preferred.
