The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.
The Role:
CAE provide an analysis service to Powertrain development. This comprises Transmissions and driveline, intake and exhaust systems, fuel and cooling systems, gasoline and diesel engines. A vacancy exists for a Finite Element Analyst. Attributes covered are :- Noise Vibration and Harshness Durability Performance Emissions and Driveability The activities span the APC, PrePS and Virtual Series product development phases together with supporting Quality and TVM actions. Powertrain CAE is part of the Attributes and Analysis group within the New Model Programs organisation.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Carry out Finite Element analysis of Powertrain Systems.
Constuct FE model using HYPERMESH or ABAQUS CAE.
Knowledge of the solver ABAQUS for linear and non linear anlysis.
Be able to perform normal mode and forced response analysis in NASTRAN
Interprit results and make reccomendations.
Report results in a accurate and consise manner both verbally and in written form
Proven ability in FEA techniques
Experience of Powertrian Systems, cooling, fuel, intake, exhaust, transmission and driveline
Written and verbal communication skills.
Well developed PC skills e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Flexibility to work on many varied tasks, covering both brands and on either Gaydon or Whitley site
An HND or Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience of solid modelling using either IDEAS or CATIA an advantage
Proven track record in FEA analysis preferably in Powertrain systems. Proficency in other FEA codes and experience of other applications may be considered
