The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
CAE analyst role within the Powertrain in-Vehicle Analysis team
Powertrain in Vehicle Analysis provides CAE support to new powertrain and vehicle programmes from concept through to engineering sign-off
Role involves running Simulink-based vehicle models to predict fuel economy and performance metrics, interpreting and reporting the results, in support of target setting, concept assessment, component selection, calibration optimisation and gateway status reporting
The role also involves detailed correlation of these models against physical test data
There is a need for development of new and improved CAE based test processes
The team covers the full range of conventional and electrified powertrain variants across all vehicle lines

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Solid understanding of vehicle and powertrain systems including typical performance characteristics and metrics
Ability to interpret simulation results and document / report-out findings
Strong analytical capability, including a methodical and disciplined approach to model and data management
Able to communicate complex technical concepts, data and conclusions to a wide audience
Able to identify and respond to the strengths and limitations of computer-based modelling and simulation
High level of motivation and drive; equally able to work alone or as part of a larger multi-disciplined team
Powertrain and vehicle analysis for predicting fuel economy
Proven success in application of industry-standard system modelling toolset (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
Computer-based analysis of dynamic system behaviour for problem-solving and/or system optimisation
Model correlation to physical test data
Simulation output data interpretation and presentation of results, conclusions and recommendat

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Recognise and quantify impact of powertrain system characteristics and principal vehicle attributes upon vehicle performance, emissions and fuel economy
Practical knowledge of engine, transmission and driveline architecture and operating characteristics
Understanding of hybrid or electric vehicle powertrain architectures, components and operating characteristics
Experience in legislated drive cycle modelling such as NEDC, WLTP, FTP75, Highway cycles
Experience in powertrain system analysis for tailpipe emissions prediction
Proven test experience in characterising vehicles or powertrains; able to apply advanced statistical techniques to experiment design and test data analysis
Powertrain calibration (engine, transmission or electrified powertrain)
