The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Provide CAE tool & process development support to new powertrain and vehicle programmes from concept through to engineering sign-off, assisting principally the delivery CO2 / fuel economy, energy management, and perfomance feel and driveability attributes - Develop & maintain MATLAB/Simulink-based models to deliver functional analyses; specifically concept assessment, target setting and analytical verification of target achievement, calibration & hardware optimisation and problem resolution - Support on-going benchmarking of relevant commercial software"

Skills Required:
Strong analytical capability, including a methodical and highly disciplined approach to data management - Complex system model development, validation and correlation - Able to identify and respond to the strengths and limitations of computer-based modelling and simulation - A good working knowledge of engine, transmission and driveline architectures and operating characteristics (both conventional and hybrid) - High level of motivation and drive; equally able to work alone or as part of a larger muliti-disciplined team"
Skills Preferred:
Recognise and quantify impact of powertrain system characteristics (conventional & hybrid) and principal vehicle attributes upon vehicle performance, emissions and fuel economy - Proven experimental capability (ideally powertrain and/or vehicle test); able to apply advanced statistical techniques to experiment design and test data analysis"

Experience Required:
"- Experience of complex system model and/or data analysis tool development, either as a customer or supplier - Proven success in the application of an industry-standard system modelling toolset (e.g. Simulink, Dymola, AMESim) for analysis of dynamic system behaviour, problem-solving and/or system optimisation - Model validation and correlation to physical test data - Simulation output data interpretation and presentation of results, conclusions and recommendations"
Experience Preferred:
"- VBA application development - CAE tool and process benchmarking - Powertrain system CAE analysis / desktop optimisation of vehicle tailpipe emissions, fuel economy, performance and driveability - Powertrain physical test (engine test bed or vehicle chassis dyno.) - Powertrain calibration (engine or transmission) "

Education Required:
- Educated to degree level in Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline

Education Preferred:
- Educated to higher degree level in Automotive Engineering or a related discipline
Additional Information :
"- Candidates from outside the automotive industry may be considered, depending upon knowledge and experience - Candidates must have a UK driving licence and be prepared to travel between JLR sites as and when required"
