The Company:
We are currently looking for a Specialist Engineer for one of our automotive clients in the Midlands.

The Role:
Experienced engine management systems engineer with a good understanding and hands on capability for supporting engine prototype/one off installations particularly setting up vehicle communications systems and signal simulators as well as diagnosing faults with electrical and electronic control systems.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Must have knowledge of engine management and diagnostic systems. Ability to communicate work instructions to technicians and ability to progress multiple parallel tasks. A good understanding of current engine management and transmission control systems hardware/software and vehicle communication systems particularly CAN . Use of ETAS and Microgen tools will be required to support test work as well as the ability to read and create automotive electrical circuit diagrams and fully understand OBD systems in support of specialist test hardware.

Hands on experience of engine management systems operating principles and diagnosing faults on prototype systems and components. Experience with engines on test beds and in vehicles are both appropriate.

HNC/HND/BEng/BSc.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge of CAN systems and interfaces with other powertrain control systems.
