The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The successful candidate will support base calibration development activity, providing technical expertise to support test-bed and vehicle calibration development. Calibration tasks will focus on air-charge model development, fuel-path calibration, and knock control to deliver fuel economy and emissions targets. Please note - this role is also known as a P&E engineer, particularly within the Ford organisation. Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver a complex gasoline calibration program to production
Based at our Whitley Engineering Centre using state of the art test facilities to develop state of the art engines. 3 new engine projects starting in the next 6 months require significant long term growth in the team

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge of complex gasoline engine control systems particularly complex air charge control (ie VVT / variable valve lift
Able to demonstrate technical delivery experience, specifically in a calibration environment with state of the art engine hardware Expertise with calibration and data analysis tools (e.g INCA, Matlab, Concerto etc)
In depth knowledge of EMS Control System strategies
Good analytical skills & good working knowledge of MS Office software
In depth experience of gasoline engine management calibration
Experience at a test bed and vehicle level particularly focussed on base calibration / P&E development (Air/Fuel Path, Knock control, Fuel economy optimisation.)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Highly driven, self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.
Ability to mentor/influence and lead team members
Knowledge/Understanding of supporting Powertrain systems e.g Exhausts/Air Intake/Fuel Systems
Knowledge of current and future emissions legislation
Ideally educated to degree level but not required
