The Role:
The jobholder will manage the strategic sourcing and category management of equipment & service contracts necessary for the execution of multi-billion dollar capital investments. While being based in the C&P Houston Hub, these projects may be local, regional or global, providing support in any of our current or future Asset areas

Responsibilities:

The jobholder is accountable for all C&P activities in their Category, and for ensuring the role of C&P in value creation, control and safety management is fully leveraged, specifically:

Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE):
•Championing the BG Group HSSE agenda, and demonstrating safety leadership in C&P.
•Ensuring contractor selection, award and performance management processes drive optimal HSSE performance.

Change Management
•Ensuring integration of the Group and Asset C&P agenda, and contributing and recommending changes to group strategies and best practice processes.
•Identifying the need for, and integrating the input of, experts from other functions and external consultants.

Resource and Talent Management
•Building and maintaining a high performing C&P team consistent with Group C&P talent management and HR processes.
•Acting as mentor and role model for Asset C&P staff, and championing the BG Group Behaviours.

Value Delivery
•Working in collaboration with appropriate Global C&P Category Teams to ensure development and implementation of category plans and C&P strategies to optimise value for the business.
•Developing and sustaining capabilities to ensure deep understanding of supply markets in order to identify opportunities and mitigate risk.
•Ensuring development and execution of robust contracts and contract management plans.
•Ensuring implementation of robust Contractor Performance Management (CPM) and Contractor Relationship Management (CRM) Processes.

Governance and Control
•Ensuring team members are familiar with and working in compliance with BG Business Principles, Policies and Standards.
•Ensuring team activities are conducted in accordance with the BG Group Policy and Standards, and where feasible utilizing Group C&P systems architecture.
•Undertaking due diligence to mitigate risk from supplier selection through to contract execution.
•Ensuring compliance with PSA /JV stipulations in order to minimise risks to cost recovery.

Performance Management and Best Practice Transfer
•Establishing external relationships with cross-industry peers to maintain knowledge and understanding of the business environment and developments in C&P theory and practice, assessing their impact and maximizing benefits to Asset/Project and C&P Function performance.

Personal and Professional Development
•Ensuring he/she, and team members, broaden and deepen their Functional, HSSE, interpersonal, business and leadership skills through continuing personal and professional development.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Substantial practical experience across all phases of the full contracts making, contract management and procurement delivery process, gained in an area of technical sourcing, i.e., where the goods or services to be procured require extensive definition and design, this would ideally have been gained in an Operator in the upstream energy sector.
•Has a record of facilitating and improving safety management through C&P excellence.
•Experienced in working and being influential internally at GM level and above, and externally with senior managers of suppliers, contractors and peers in JVs, regulators and host governments.
•Previous relevant (Oil/Gas/Engineering) experience in leading and driving the development and implementation of category strategies and managing a category portfolio that delivers value in line with business strategy.
•Has practical experience in process mapping across an end to end supply chains, across multiple geographies and through multiple tiers.
