With interests in over 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, my Client has one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the offshore waters of the UK.

The Role:
About the role

This role reports directly to the Asset Contracts & Procurement Manager, parented by Contracts and Procurement.
This role is expected to work collaboratively across boundaries of function, country and with the Group C&P Category Team.
The Category Sourcing Manager is a member of the Asset C&P Leadership team with responsibility for the following:

• Managing all Drilling, Exploration & Marine Category Planning, Sourcing and Post Award Contract Management related to the designated Category within the Europe E&P Asset, in accordance with related Standards. Diligent consideration of all HSSE in aspects of procurement. Optimise business needs and value whilst aligning with Group Category Strategy. Drilling, Exploration & Marine Category in Europe E&P includes all drilling/workover activities, exploration (seismic and data licences) and marine (PSV/AHTS and ERRV) vessels required in support of the Asset.
• Management of a team spread across both in Aberdeen and Norway working in a number of different categories; predominantly Drilling, Exploration & Marine, but also Indirects to a lesser extent.

The post holder will for their designated Category area:
• Be co-located with principle key stakeholders, such as Well Engineering, to provide C&P support;
• Be accountable for ensuring compliance with the asset and our clients standards and whenever and wherever possible industry best practice is expertly applied to support ongoing improvement in operational performance;
• Play a lead role in driving forward the development of complex supply chain business solutions and procurement activity in collaboration with Group Category Teams;
• Be responsible for the procurement of goods or services in Category to support exploration or development drilling operations or well intervention activities in order to ensure improvement opportunities are identified, supported, realised and in a cost effective manner;
• Be responsible for ensuring alignment with Group Contracting Strategies ensuring maximum value for money creation is realised;
• Be responsible for ensuring that all Key Contracts are identified and performance managed in a manner consistent with the relevant C&P standards. This will also require ensuring performance feedback is captured;
• Manage stakeholder engagement activities for all key stakeholders.

• Lead by example and contribute to the development of a culture of continuous HSSE performance improvement.
• Ensure that procurement activities are fully compliant with BG practices, current legislation and safe systems of work.
• Actively contribute to assist to achieve outstanding performance in meeting our clients targets of HSSE and efficiency.

The position will take ownership of the delivery of Europe E&P category procurement activities. This shall include developing strategy, framing deals and collaborative initiatives in conjunction with Group.

Responsible for ensuring all related Category spend for Europe E&P is coordinated and executed in accordance with Europe E&P procedures and aligned with Group Category strategy.

In addition to those specified above, accountabilities and activities shall include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Participate in collaborative initiatives, integrating the inputs of experts from other functions and external consultants where necessary.
• Utilises C&P best practice and maintains knowledge and understanding of the business environment and market to maximise the benefits to C&P and Asset performance.
• Ensure approved Vendor listings are maintained
• Ensure quotations are requested and appropriate commercial evaluation is undertaken
• Ensure that SAP Purchase Orders are created and be responsible for their management
• Prepare Management Reporting in-line with Group requirements
• Be responsible for Performance Management – KPI Reporting

Team, Peer & Organisational responsibilities
As part of the C&P Leadership Team for the Asset, the post holder resource authority will extend to include management of staff and contractor / agency personnel on issues such as:
• Daily and bi-weekly procurement planning activities;
• Ownership of Asset Category Plan, ensuring alignment with Group Category Plan;
• C&P Functional Excellence activities;
• Asset C&P resource capabilities.
• Provide specialist Category knowledge across functional teams.
• Ensure Category Plan is visible to Asset via the IAPS System.
• Manage key stakeholder engagement and ensure visibility of Category Plan with key stakeholders and Asset Leadership Team, seeking their contribution where necessary.
• Influences across organisational boundaries and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.
• Be accountable for own and staff team members’ personal and professional development. Mentoring, coaching and sharing knowledge to aid others in their development.

Ensure a cost effective Category service is carried out within budget.
Contribute to delivery of savings targets.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Supply Chain Management, Business Studies, law, would be desirable
• CIPS Membership desirable

Relevant Category expertise;
• Good hands on working knowledge and understanding of SAP and C&P business support systems such as SAP & PROCON and have excellent computer literacy and highly developed numeracy skills;
• exhibit integrity at all times and work efficiently under pressure to tight deadlines;
• excellent communication skills, patience and diplomacy;
• delivery focus - forward planning, prioritisation cost and time management;
• proven capability in measuring and reporting data to deliver performance improvements;
• proven record of good performance and value delivery in a number of sourcing, category management, performance management or C&P process development roles;
• experience of different market segments, categories and/or systems;
