A major international operator.

The Role:
The CDG (Competency Development Group) Simulation & Controls Advisor directly interacts with the Honeywell Engineer simulator support position and the Project CDG Supervisor. The CDG Simulation & Control Advisor is responsible for advice on the training of New Automation Engineers across all of the business in varying processes and operations. The CDG Simulation & Control Advisor is responsible for ensuring that all Automation Engineer training modules and tests are up to date (per schedule) and are maintained Fit for Purpose in accordance with RoK and Company policies and regulations. The CDG Simulation & Control Advisor is responsible for updating and maintaining the training hardware and software on the client Simulators with an estimated value of $5MM. The Simulation & Control Advisor is responsible for advice and development of the project simulator including conversion of the existing DCS systems to Experion.

Advise on updates to Simulation models as required.
Liaise with Automation group to ensure sim model and plant DCS system are in synch.
Advise trainers and training consultants in Operations group on simulation work
Coordinate development of vendor training material, training schedules and control budget.
Advise and development of the project simulator
Provides consultation, guidelines and technical expertise to plant ops and Automation group on DCS related issues
Works closely with Ops, Maint, QA/QC and Safety/Compliance group supervisors in enhancing the overall training process for the CDG group.
Other duties inlude, but are not limited to: feedback in the hiring of personnel, crosstraining of new and existing Automation personnel, development of National workforce.
Audits and works with Automation and Operations Supervisors to ensure training material is up to date and tused to support the objectives of the business.
Makes a leading contribution to the systematic management of health, safety, environment, reliability and efficiency to achieve world-class performance, in accordance with the Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS). Leads functional workgroup in the development of CDG work processes using the OE 5 component format. Lead the efforts in BBS participation and weekly level 1 safety audits of process units as scheduled within the Group. Demonstrates commitment to the programs by personally conducting observations and audits and requires training personnel to actively participate. Mentors direct reports and establishes work plans and schedules to meet the requirements for CDG’s business plan and key focus items.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Regulatory requirements within the Automation & Control Systems, Instrumentation Maintenance organisation
Labor protection, safety rules and standards. Industrial hygiene and fire safety.
Have excellent organisational and implementation skills
Have excellent prioritization skills, when managing multiple Initiatives
Specific knowledge for one or more of Client's Automation roles and responsibilities
Good understanding of the English language both written and oral
