The Role:
MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

- To undertake Type Approval/Certification of assigned subjects for all Company products in support of the Whole Vehicle Type Approval.
- To proactively support the functional feature and system owners to achieve compliant designs through their expert theoretical and practical legislation awareness and detailed understanding of assigned certification subjects.
- To work with functional system owners to ensure that all required component level approvals are obtained in a timely manner.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support and Lead Certification approval of assigned subjects
To work proactively with the functional feature and system owners to ensure that legislative and certification requirements are "designed-in" at the earliest appropriate stage. To exploit the use of computer aided engineering to maximise design verification using "virtual" methods prior to, or in place of, the use of physical properties.

2. Delivery of projects
Responsible for Type Approval/Certification of systems approvals and market specific data which, when introduced in to production, are safe, compliant with regulations and otherwise fit for purpose (including product liability requirements) and which satisfy Manufacturing, Service and Conformity of Production requirements.
Responsible for planning, monitoring and expediting specified tests, documentation and Type Approval/Certification of vehicles, systems and components.

3. Problem Solving
Ability to solve complex Engineering related problems. Analysis and management of several design related issues to identify the root cause.
Group Partners
Collect, manage and analyse data to produce reports/presentations as appropriate and progress design guidelines. Deliver presentations at appropriate level.


4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
Responsible for keeping the local team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility. Capture learning from previous experience. Understand and maintain liaison with VW group partners to keep up to date with latest

5. Ability to work within a team
Able to work effectively in the functional team. Support of own contribution in delivering team objectives.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR ROLE

- Responsible for delivery of specified Type Approval/Certification activities required to support projects or new specification introduction, in fulfilment of quality, cost and time requirements.
- Responsible for delivery of system approval to the appropriate market engineer
- Responsible for securing evidence of component approval from responsible functions

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
- Design and development skills
- Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
- Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility
- Skills required by local area
- German language preferable.
- Ability to solve problems

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

- Advanced knowledge of: Legislation and Certification or Test and measurement or relevant subject discipline
- Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)

QUALIFICATIONS

- Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
- Associate membership of a relevant professional institution preferable
