The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:

Deliver Engineering systems and components to meet the requirements of the Project Description Brochure.
Responsible for the specification, test and validation plan and supplier technical management to achieve the cost, weight, timing and quality targets for the project. Achieve engineering signoff for systems and components in area of responsibility.

Support and Lead Design Development:

Lead the design and development of powertrain mounting and suspension bush technology from initial specification to final delivery on all Bentley products. Advanced ability to capture and specify design requirements to meet specific vehicle attribute targets.
Support CAD design activities. Lead the system engineering test & validation planning and sign off. Lead Engineering release and change management process.
Responsible for supporting NVH colleagues with required powertrain mounts functional test work activities including vehicle testing and measurement. This includes parts supply as well as assisting with data analysis and interpretation to ensure system optimisation and confirmation of target achievements.

Delivery of projects:

Responsible for planning and managing project related activities throughout a complete product development. Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in cross functional and project teams. Advanced understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business. Lead and initiate working with suppliers to ensure project deliverable targets are met. Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation. Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering.

Problem Solving:

Ability to solve highly complex engineering and design related problems. Analysis and management of multiple design related issues to identify the root cause.
Collect data, manage data and analyse data to produce reports as appropriate and progress design guidelines.

Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge:

Responsible for keeping the functional area up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility. Capture learning from previous experience. Work with VW group partners to keep abreast of technology currently in use in group and Influence to ensure that we have access to the most appropriate technology for Bentley.

Ability to work within a team
Able to work effectively in the cross functional team. Lead contribution in delivering team objectives. Share specialist knowledge with team to broaden overall team skillset.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Extensive experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier group
Powertrain mounting & suspension bushing design and development skills
Proven problem solving ability
Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
Can work efficiently with minimum supervision
Experience of/prepared to manage Suppliers both in UK and abroad.
Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility

Skills required by local area
German language preferable.
Understanding of Health and Safety and capability to complete risk assessment in own area.
Significant advanced knowledge of: Design and development; DFMEA, Test and measurement; Engineering drawings; Software tools
Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in Powertrain Mounting Systems design (preferably including active and switchable mount technology) and test work is preferred.
CATIA design experience would be an advantage but not a requirement.
Membership of a relevant professional institution and Chartered Engineer status preferable
An additional high performance driving qualification and any track-based objective test work would be an advantage.
