The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The Lead Engineer will be part of the Braking Systems Design group, in the Stability Control Systems delivery team.
The SCS teams are responsible for delivering vehicle functions that provide safety and control for the driver under extreme vehicle driving conditions. E.G. Anti-Lock Braking Systems, Traction Control, Stability Control, Hill Descent Control etc. The Lead Engineer is responsible for the design and delivery of Stability Control Systems Modulators, its mountings and software releases for a vehicle platform.
In this role the candidate will lead an internal team and the suppliers, is accountable for delivering cascaded targets. I.E. To Quality, On Time, To Cost, To Weight.

Experience Required:

An experienced engineer in Automotive, Electrical or Aeronautical field who is Self-motivated, organised and passionate about data-driven engineering.
The successful candidate will have:

* Education in Mechanical, Automotive or an appropriate Electrical Engineering discipline
* Experience of new model activities concept to launch environment preferably having delivered systems with a high level of complexity and interfaces.
* Experience of Project Management of complex multi-disciplinary projects.
* High drive, self-motivated and flexible Strong Systems Engineering background
* Strong team player with a successful track record in team leadership and organisation
* Ability to delegate tasks to team members and maintain strong working relationships within the business
* Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members and colleagues
* Enthusiasm for task, strong drive and high motivation and largely self-sufficient - able to deliver with minimum supervision
* Ability to work at a fast pace and deliver
* First time through results
* Ability to negotiate technical solutions within a multi-disciplinary and geographically spread team

* Ability to manage conflict and balance opposing programme demands
* Strong influencing, communication and presentation skills will be required to negotiate solutions and to report out regularly to all levels of the business and supply base
* Understanding of automotive Chassis, Braking systems & Stability Control Systems.
* Thorough knowledge of basic quality engineering tools
including FMEA and robust application of Lessons Learned from previous programmes. ¿ Flexible approach and able to work away from home and beyond normal hours when required High level user of the MS Office suite of software.
UK Driving Licence for Cat B vehicles Self-motivated, organised and passionate about data-driven engineering

Experience Preferred:

Experience in the design and delivery of electro-mechanical systems desired. I.E. Mechanical systems with functions controlled by software housed in an ECU or of a component engineering role preferably gained in an automotive environment. Driver training to Class 3 On Road and PG3 would be an advantage.

The role will be based at Gaydon but travel to other locations, including manufacturing plants and suppliers will be required from time to time.

* Strong leadership skills and experience of leading issue resolution within cross-functional teams "
* Electro-mechanical systems engineering / requirements creation
* Strong English language based written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present to senior colleagues across the business
