The Company:
Our client serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services.

The Role:
Based in the South Manchester area and reporting to the Analytical Services Supervisor, the successful candidate will assist in the running of the company's Instrument / Chromatography Laboratory and will perform both routine and non-routine analysis of gas samples.

Responsibilities shall include:
• Assist in the general management of the Instrument Laboratory
• Routine control of all GC and analysis equipment including calibration, development of GC methods as required and validation.
• Lead the maintenance activities for the lab based and mobile instrumentation
• Evaluate new and alternative procedures and equipment
• Chromatographic analysis of quality control samples for both internal and external customers
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out to satisfy quality standards
• Development of analyser and method procedures
• Provide flexible support for other colleagues within the analytical team as required
• Support the compliance requirements of ISO and other quality systems
• Visit customer sites to collects samples as required for both on site and off site analysis.
• Willing to travel and support the wider analytical services group activities, as required across the European region.
• Provide training on analysers & methodologies to the wider analytical support group and customers.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• HND/HNC or Graduate level in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Instrumentation (with associated work experience that has amalgamated a combination of these skills).
• Experience in a range of analytical techniques, including GC, MS and electrochemical would be beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills ( both written and verbal) .
• Accurate presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• PC literate with experience of the MS Office package, web-based filing systems and chromatography data acquisition software.
• Knowledge of chemical analysis techniques essential.
• Experience of working in a GMP and/or industrial gases environment beneficial.
• Self motivated to provide a quality service with a specific focus on individual and peer safety.
