The Company:
Our client is a major global Oil and Gas EPC management company that can cover small Brownfield projects to major Greenfield projects.
They are a growth company who can serve as a Sole Supplier, Joint Venture or Subcontractor. With a proven track record of delivering large scale complex projects they are a progressive and attractive company.

The Role:
We are currently sourcing a Chief Mechanical Engineer to join the North West Office on a staff basis, but taking responsibility for the Northern Operations’ Process Department in the NW, NE and SW of England, plus the NE of Scotland.

With substantial experience of working in the chemical, petro-chemical and oil & gas industries, the successful candidate will -

• Possess strong planning and administrative skills with excellent interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrate wide mechanical engineering experience in our specified industries.

• Ensure that all technical and engineering requirements are met including the correct and timely performance of discipline engineering tasks within the project group. Also, for the technical interfaces with contractors and suppliers subsequent to the issue of technical specifications.

• Liaise with the Project Engineer regarding input to progress reporting and planning systems

• Give due consideration to the project HS&E aspects, including statutory obligations and internal procedures. To be committed to the project HS&E goals and take appropriate action to achieve them and performance objectives. Establish the design criteria in consultation with other project disciplines. Preparation of project design/engineering documentation.

• Prepare and check engineering and design documents, ensuring that the quality of work performed, complies with technical and quality requirements.

• Hold technical responsibility for interfacing with other project disciplines, contractors and vendors.

• Produce mechanical manhour cost estimates with input into capital cost generation.

• Produce and check enquiry requisitions, bid summaries and purchase requisitions and review vendor data for a wide range of process equipment.

• Previous lead Mechanical engineering experience essential.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Relevant degree.

• Substantial experience of working in the chemical, petro-chemical and oil & gas industries.

• Proven track record of Mechanical Engineering delivery with a breadth of experience in specification of rotating equipment, static equipment and packages.

• Excellent technical communication and co-ordination skills.
