The Company:
Our client is a large multi-national Oil and Gas Operator which explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, gas and sulfur. They pride themselves in conducting operations in accordance with the world–class safety and environmental standards.

The Role:
The Civil/Structural Engineer will report directly to the Project Engineer and will be either rotational or 5/2 in Atyrau for the initial phases of the project. If based in Atyrau, there will be periodic visits to site and to external contractors. It is envisaged that the position will move to site for the latter phases of the project.

The essential functions of the position are as follows;
•To establish the discipline scope definition for each phase of the project;
•Develop detailed execution plans for each phase of the project;
•Apply appropriate project management tools and procedures in accordance with the Company’s CPDEP process;
•Mentor junior discipline engineers;
•Interface with all departments to ensure alignment with the project’s objectives and concept selection.
•Monitor the Phase 2 engineering studies and investigation work at site.
•Support the definition of the Phase 3 engineering scope;
•Development of the applicable Project Execution Plan sections;
•Development and input to the applicable Decision Support Package sections;
•Accountable for the engineering discipline quality;
•Manage the related interface with other projects;
•Responsible for driving the costs to top quartile;
•Provide project execution document reviews relating to:
oCost
oSchedule
oProject Execution Plan
•Coordinate discipline regulatory affairs issues;
•Provide mentoring to direct reports and the Soaring Eagle appraisal scheme;
•Provide feedback on contractors’ performance;
•Participate in the Communication Meetings;
•Organise discipline reviews for the project;
•Provide logistical support for site based major review meetings;
•Coordinate site review of detail engineering drawings and documents;
•Will be the single discipline point of contact for all site issues;
•Lead the site safety effort;
•Participate in the contractor evaluation and selection of the engineering contractor for the Phase 3 and 4 engineering;
•Responsible for the implementation of applicable QA/QC procedures;
•Maintain the project documentation;
•Participate as a project team member for other associated issues.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Must have a recognised academic discipline qualification;
•Understanding and interpretation of geotechnical information;
•Engineering and design of reinforced concrete, earth and piled foundations;
•Engineering and design of roads, paving and surface water and sanitary drainage;
•Engineering and design of reinforced concrete structures;
•Engineering and design of steel structures, pipe racks, structural pipe supports, equipment support structures and shelters;
•Previous experience with Russian codes and standards would be an advantage;
•Previous experience in Kazakhstan would also be an advantage.
