The Company:
Our client is a strong, global company operating in oil and gas, mining, clean energy, and environment and infrastructure markets. They have over 100 years experience within the development of this sector covering Oil, Gas, Nuclear and Renewable energy.

The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Civil Design Engineer to join the growing Transmission and Distribution team for a leading energy company in the UK.
• The role will be reporting to the T&D Principal Civil Engineer and will be responsible for the control, production and verification of designs and technical documentation across the delivery portfolio covering Substations, Cables, Overhead lines, Gas distribution and Transmission, water and other developing sectors.
• The employee must be enthusiastic; mature enough to operate in a diverse team, work without full time supervision, support the Design Teams, supervise the work of others and to be able to deliver solutions to budget and to deadlines.
• The quality of all tender, design specifications/ design appraisal/ construction/ fabrication drawings and documents for foundations or temporary works and permanent foundation structures and elements.
• The adherence to and control of documents and drawings in accordance with management procedures.
• Design input/output, to budget and deadlines and within the designated risk management process
• Accept ownership of work to be done (i.e. being required to undertake specific actions within an agreed job boundary, the execution of a delegated task, activity or process).
• Assisting the Team Leader and Design Team in general in developing and maintaining skills and competencies of others.
• Providing programme updates to the Lead Engineers and the Team Leader for the duration of the project life.
• Highlighting any quality and delivery risks.
• Provide a technical interface with 3rd parties.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• UK recognised and accredited by the ICE, preferably postgraduate, degree qualification, in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering.
• It would be highly beneficial to be Chartered or working towards a recognised professional qualification and membership of the ICE.
• Experienced in CAD packages such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Experienced in some of the Geotechnical and Structural FEA software applications such as Limit StateGeo, SLOPEW, Plaxis and ROBOT, Ansys or STAAD.
• Working knowledge of EC 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8, BS 5975, BS 8666.
• Knowledge and competency in working to BS ISO 9001, BS ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001, CDM Regulations 2007.
• Competent in verifying and validating design solutions prepared by others.
• Must have working experience in producing design solutions, in preparing an appraisal, design briefs, tenders, in reviewing results on geotechnical desktop studies and walkthrough, test results on soil investigations.
