The Role:
Fircroft are seeking a Civil Engineer for the Exploration and production Department based within the Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey region, responsible for operating and maintaining an oil and gas terminal and three pipelines

Role:
The Civil Engineer will be part of the Discipline Engineering Team within the Midstream Engineering Services function and will initially be based in Georgia. They will be responsible for providing discipline engineering expertise into the inspection and assessment of the integrity of civil structures and pipelines and for the development and approval of remediation and repair works for these assets as required.
The role involves a strong element of coaching, mentoring and the development of national engineers with the aim of achieving long term and sustained local civil engineering capability within the region. The post holder will be required to relocate to the region for up to 3 years on a full expatriate posting. The role will initially be based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Key Accountabilities:
Provide technical support for the inspection, assessment, remediation and rectification of all civil structures and civil pipeline works in particular pipeline river crossings and the settlement of civil structures. The candidate will be required to initiate and organise the design of measures to protect, prevent or restrict the threat of the above issues and will be required to provide civil engineering support in any changes to existing facilities and for any ‘new build’ projects.
Inspections and Surveys: Plan and arrange regular inspections and surveys of pipeline river crossings to assess bank erosion and bed degradation. Arrange for civil structural settlement surveys to be carried out at pump stations and other pipeline facilities. Liaise with the incumbent civil engineering inspection contractor to ensure inspections are completed in accordance with the schedule. Identify issues reported by the inspection contractor and resolve the rectification. Review and optimise civil structures inspection and maintenance routines

Arrange for and approve or modify all civil engineering designs for river erosion rectification works and for new or modified civil structures. The ability to rectify threats using in country materials and contractors as far as possible

Work with supply chain management in identifying and placing contracts with competent and capable third party companies for pipeline river crossing remediation and rectification works and for new structures or modifications to existing structures. Carry out site visits to check the quality and progress of on-going civil works and prepare and discuss regular reports on the progress and any related issues.
The ability to work within budgets and to highlight overspends at an early stage of any project and the willingness and skill to be able to make changes in design or implementation strategy that results in financial benefit.
Contribute to the effective implementation of the HSSE Policy and the Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Management Systems. Work within the region to promote the consistent application of engineering standards and the development and distribution of shared learnings throughout the wider organisation. Provide civil engineering technical expertise into the resolution of Engineering Queries to increase safety and maximise pipeline availability and the integrity of civil structures.

Degree qualified in Civil Engineering
Chartered Civil Engineer or working towards professional status
Minimum of 10 years’ experience
Excellent civil engineering integrity, process safety and HSSE awareness including a working knowledge of Western civil engineering Codes and Specifications and a working knowledge of erosion processes, specifically on rivers and methods used to arrest them.
Willing and able to relocate to Georgia/Azerbaijan for up to 3 years
The ability to work in multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams
Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills

Desirable criteria & qualifications:
Awareness of Soviet civil engineering standards
Experience of coaching and mentoring foreign nationals
Experience of working with little support in remote locations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
