The Company:
Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.

The Role:
DIRECTION RECEIVED:
Receives functional direction from, and reports to, the client Lead Civil Engineer.
The incumbent is expected to demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, sound judgment and
technical and project delivery expertise in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Supervision will vary
depending on the assignment and the degree of expertise of the incumbent.
.DIRECTION EXERCISED:
The incumbent is generally self-directing in achieving objectives. Provides supervision and technical
direction to junior engineers and engineering co-op students. The incumbent will provide support to the
clients Lead Civil and cross-functional support to clients Project Managers and will provide oversight and
guidance to the clients consultant and other contractors in support of project execution requirements
SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
The incumbent performs the duties of a civil engineer on a large hydroelectric project. Exercises strong
judgment and initiative in the implementation of technical assignments. Reviews work of the clients
consultant and other engineers.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is being executed as a contract scope of work:
Provides support in the completion of activities related to civil engineering design, project management
and technical support to the clients other disciplines and functional groups. This includes the following
activities:
• Ensure work incorporates the Corporation's Safety and Health Program, Environmental
Management Program, and Project Management Systems, and the clients Basis of Design.
• Steward delivery of key project components through engineering, manufacturing and installation.
• Provide technical direction to the clients consultant in the completion of Project specific
assignments and work packages.
• Review and accept design criteria, technical reports, functional and technical specifications and
design drawings, ensuring the best interests of the Project and the stakeholders are maintained.
• Specific assignments/work packages may include but will not be limited to:
- the Falls physical hydraulic model
- North spur stabilization
- Ice observation program
- Gated spillway
- Dams, cofferdams and transition dams
- Powerhouse and intake

• Assist the Civil Lead as required with in-house calculations and analysis typically in the areas of
hydrology, hydraulics, atmospheric and climatic data.
• Develop and maintain relationships with counterparts from other clients lines of business, utilities,
industry, contractors and consultants to facilitate the exchange of technical information.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, with eligibility for
membership in PEGNL.
Suggested minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years in the civil engineering design field. Experience in water
resources and hydroelectric projects would be an asset.

• This is an intermediate engineering position, requiring experience in a design environment.
• The incumbent must be able to work effectively as a member of an Owner's team, within a multifunctional
team environment.

• The incumbent must possess excellent analytical skills combined with sound judgment and
technical skills.
• The incumbent must exhibit a project execution and project delivery skillset.
• This position requires a proven ability to accept responsibility in a highly technical environment.
• The incumbent will work primarily in an office environment; however, some travel is required.
• The incumbent may be required to work from time to time in construction or industrial
