We have an immediate requirement for a Civil Engineering Materials Specialist to join the Civil Engineering Unit of the Consulting Services Department based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The Civil Engineering Unit provides technical consultations and support on issues related to civil, structural and geotechnical engineering for both onshore and offshore facilities to projects and operating plants, and maintaining Company Engineering Standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide the general engineering consultations focusing on civil engineering materials issues. Provide technical support to Saudi Aramco operations and occasionally to Joint Venture operations. Provide consultations to field operations of Saudi Aramco refineries, gas plants, terminals, on an as needed basis. Write company standards, procedures and best practices in individual’s area of expertise. Serve on international standards writing bodies as the opportunity allows. Provide consultation and review of capital project engineering design packages. Attend project review meetings in or out of the Kingdom, as needed. Develop new technologies and apply these new technologies to Saudi Aramco operations. Apply for patents when appropriate. Participate in providing training courses to developing engineers. Mentor young engineers and publish technical papers. Lead or be a team member in special teams and task forces, such as; incident investigation teams, value engineering teams, organizational improvement teams, etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have the following experience, competencies and skillsets: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineerig from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license or registration would be desirable but is not essential. Ten years of post-graduate experience working with principal materials used within Civil Engineering and the construction business, preferably with some time spent working in the oil and gas industry. Must have an in-depth knowledge of civil engineering materials principles and the ability to reflect them in engineering projects from conceptual to detailed engineering phases. Must have experience in the following areas: • Concrete mix specifications, suitability and compliance. • Precast and prestressed concrete design and installation.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Concrete repair and durability • Sulphur Pit design • The specification, procurement, use and quality control of construction materials, including: roofing materials, weather proofing materials, seal design, epoxy, grouting and adhesives. • Road construction. • Asphalt pavement design and maintenance. • Construction materials testing and lab data interpretation. • Use of nonmetallic materials in the oil and gas industry. • Must be able to provide solutions for the disposal or reuse of surplus/contaminated materials and liaison with environmental consultants. Good knowledge of international/industry standards and codes. Must be able to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural groups and also work independently. Driving license is required.
