The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

The Role:
Responsible for Civil Engineering support throughout both tender and delivery process. Work with other members of the team to develop customer solutions and ensure optimum value is achieved.


• Assessing the needs of clients and identifying/monitoring the Civil, Structural and Building scope.
• Recognizing the significance of the design stage, how it underpins the construction project and influencing electrical layouts prior to the Civil/Architectural design commencing.
• Identifying and advising on regulatory/legal requirements affecting the project and obtaining approvals e.g. consents and building control.
• Liaising with and coordinating documentation/permits for approval by statutory authorities.
• Reviewing and evaluating desk studies and Site Investigation reports.
• Assessing survey and Geotech requirements.
• Preparing Scope of works, Works Information, Tender proposals.
• Advising on methods of project procurement, construction Methodology and forms of contract.
• Preparing and presenting design proposals using CAD techniques.
• Leading the detailed design process and coordinating detailed design information with regard to Civil, Structural, Architectural and MEP designs.
• Manage the design interface between the Electromechanical design team situated overseas and the local civil design team.
• Managing and coordinating the design phase and external consultants.
• Developing the project design, researching problems and producing, developing and advising upon innovative solutions.
• Producing, analysing and advising upon specification, materials selection and design solutions in relation to performance and production criteria.
• Producing, managing, controlling and integrating design and production information.
• Carrying out design stage risk assessments in conjunction with others.
• Evaluating sub-contractor proposals.
• Ensuring continual compliance with design, legal, statutory and professional requirements.
• Programming schedules and undertaking stage inspections.
• Administering contracts and project certification.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• 10 years Construction industry experience.
• Good construction design and constructability understanding.
• Technical expertise in major civil engineering discipline. (desirable: contamination, geotechnics, geo-environmental)
• Demonstrable experience of subcontract management.
• Experienced in site works and good overall knowledge of construction techniques for civil, structural and building works.
• BSc/BEng/BArch in Architectural Technology, Building Engineering, Civil/Structural engineering or equivalent (Relevant appropriate experience without a Bachelor’s degree may be considered e.g. HND + experience).
• Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIAT, ICE,
BE, CIOB, RICS.
• Good team work and communication skills.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015
• Ability to be flexible to meet business demands
• Self-motivation and total commitment to deadlines
• Understanding of construction procurement routes and standard methods of measurement.


Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience in Transmission and distribution projects
• NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction
• Autodesk software proficiency- AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks
